Needhams

Several years ago I read a wonderful book called Candy and me (A Love Story) by Hilary Liftin. I thought of her today when I tasted my first Needham. How long have I been in Maine without ever tasting one? I thought the smooth dark chocolate rectangle would be filled with caramel. What I tasted instead was creamy delicious coconut~ and later found out it has mashed potato mixed in with the coconut.They originated in Portland, Maine in 1872. The box I was given had 4 Needhams in it. Only a one day supply, okay, maybe 2 days.
I would love to have a recipe for them if anyone would like to share.
