It really is. It really makes hosting a giveaway on the most powerful author platform out of reach for a lot of writers.


Pretty much. I mean they have every right to do it, but I won't be sad if it blows up in their face.

It certainly limits the volume of giveaway requests they'll receive. Maybe they're hoping it'll increase the quality? I don't know. It doesn't make much sense to me because they're selling their infrastructure, but what made their infrastructure so valuable was it was free and built in. Now we might as well just drop $599 on AMS ads instead.

And, that's probably the point. They figure it will increase AMS ads because there's a chance of the author making money there rather than just giving away books.
