Gratitude: New Release, a Party for Cowboys, and a Rough Return to REAL Time
I have a book releasing on November 9th--my mother's birthday. She died in 2001, but I see her every time I look in a mirror, and sometimes I "hear her voice" when I talk, when I use her quirky sayings. She was a fabulous, fun, memorable person, and I'm fortunate to be her daughter. (My dad was great too--lucky me, right?)
About the book:
Maureen McClain didn’t believe in love at first sight until the night of her cousin’s art gallery opening. That’s when she met Damien Phillips. Their first touch was electric, and in the next few weeks their relationship blossomed. But that all ended when she showed up at his Nashville home and witnessed his argument with a pregnant woman who said that her child needed its father. Maureen is concentrating on growing her business, McClain Events, and has put Damien firmly into her past.
Damien Phillips hopes that if he can finally complete painting a portrait of Maureen, he’ll be able to let her go. His life changed the day he and Jamie were arguing, and Maureen overheard. Now he’s full-time dad to Emma, who looks like the mother who died so tragically. When he’s about to lose his Nashville apartment, fate hands him an opportunity in Legend. Being near Maureen will help him finish the painting, and a small town upbringing, even with a single dad, is his best option for Emma.

USA Today bestselling author Shanna Hatfield seeks to help rodeo athletes who need a hand up this holiday season with the fourth annual Cowboys and Christmas campaign.
November 1 through December 24, ten percent of the net proceeds from all Shanna Hatfield book sales will be donated to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. The JCCF is a non-profit organization that assists rodeo athletes who’ve sustained catastrophic injuries and are unable to work for an extended period.
Hatfield decided to donate to JCCF after writing the first book in the Rodeo Romance sweet romance series that centers around rodeo athletes. Now in the fourth year, the Cowboys and Christmas campaign generates funds through book sales made during the holiday season and raises awareness about JCCF.

Please also note: if you've never attended a Facebook party, they are fun! And Shanna's are always terrific.
Oh yeah: I'm hosting for twenty minutes during the party. Yeehaw!
Well, that's one way to get leaves off the trees!
Over the weekend, my little corner of the world returned to what I like to call NORMAL Time. Daylight Savings Time is one of the things I dislike about summer. Saturday evening, I re-set all the clocks. Sunday morning, my poor brain was worn out from the Saturday night-Sunday morning sleep time change. Winds geared up Sunday, ripping leaves off the trees. We were lucky to have a pretty autumn this year, but the color show is about over.
And then Sunday night a swath of severe weather came through. Tornadoes touched down in our county. Some storm damage occurred a couple of blocks from me. I spent part of the night (when the tornado warning siren was blaring) on the bathroom floor in a fetal position. My guess is that tonight I will sleep great. I have to be energetic this week, right? I mean, book release! And Facebook party!
As always, I'm grateful for my simple life, and for being able to write books that might give you a respite from your own kind of less than pleasant reality.
Until next time--happy reading!
