Autumn, Tiny House Experiment, and New Books!

Did you notice that the blog was on hiatus? Yep, since June 15th. If you did notice, maybe you are wondering:
Where has the time gone?Do I have summer vacation photos to share? What have I accomplished during this period? What goofy things happened in my little corner of the universe? What's my stress level? What is the future of the blog?I suppose it's possible that you are only wondering some of those things. Maybe you're not wondering any of them.
Maybe you've never heard of me, and aren't certain how you arrived here.
If the latter is the case, please feel free to hang around anyway, and even look at some of the blog's older posts. Just fyi, book links added prior to October 2015 probably don't work. That's a sad story I don't want to go into, but--good news--you don't want to hear it.
Because we're not going to get into depressing stuff. There's plenty of that EVERYWHERE else. Oy.
Now, lemme see. Your first question was
Where has the time gone?
Away, forever. We're not getting any of it back for a do-over.
I used some of the time very well, but I squandered a lot of it. Most of my time-squandering was done by being very, very busy. But in that busyness, I often lost my focus. I also let myself get caught up in a lot of worry about things I couldn't change. Mindfulness, focus...these are always at or near the top of my list of things to get better at.
At my age--old enough for AARP, not old enough for the National Park Service's lifetime senior pass--I don't want to waste time. I want to fill it with all the right things.
Do I have summer vacation photos to share?

How about the one above, from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin? No big-ticket vacations this year, but my son and daughter-in-law and I took a road trip in July. They visited friends and so did I. Yep, their friends moved to Woodstock, IL (where Groundhog Day was filmed). My friends live 15 minutes from them. Lake Geneva is just a short drive from there. We all had a fun, relaxing time!
On Saturday, my friend Beverly and I went to the farmers' market on the town square. It was amazing! I bought homemade soap, and should have bought the olive oil, but worried about breaking the glass bottle on the way home. I wish our local farmers' market was as well supported by the community, and could branch out into doing more, like having live music. The photo above was taken at Woodstock during the farmers' market.
Here's another photo from this summer. This one was taken in Southern Indiana--Corydon. Don't you love outdoor concerts? This one was recorded for a "local" Public Radio program, Kentucky Homefront.
What have I accomplished during this period?
I published KIM: BEACH BRIDES SERIES , and A COWBOY FOR CHRISTMAS (Serendipity #9) . I also wrote HOME FOR CHRISTMAS (McClains #9) which is available for pre-order. It will release on November 9th.

I'm almost caught up making paperbacks. Yay! All of the Serendipity books are in print. I have a little more work to do on the McClain Series, but we're reaaaaaally close!
Personal stuff: Weddings. Family reunions. Funerals. Community celebrations. Just hanging out with people I love. Thinking about where I go from here, life-wise and career-wise.
What goofy things happened in my little corner of the universe?
Food poisoning. That was an interesting few hours on the bathroom floor.
Lesson learned: Clean the blender more thoroughly after making my daily fruit/yogurt smoothie. I'm not sure that's where the food poisoning came from, but I don't have anyone else's food to blame.
Badly sprained left ankle and banged-up right arm. Gotta love it. This happened on a Friday in September--a "day off" I gave myself because I had met all my 2017 deadlines. I made a list of 20 things I was behind on, including indulgences like cleaning the shower. Just as I was ready to head out on my morning walk, I answered a phone call that upset me.
Lessons learned from the fall: (1)Leave drama and stress "at the office" and focus instead on walking, and (2)Living in less than 100 square feet--the amount of my apartment I could get to when I couldn't walk--worked really well. It was an accidental tiny house experiment. Of course not having the laptop within the 100 sq ft. was awkward. Having met my deadlines, I read a novel. It was cozy, relaxing, and enjoyable--except for the pain.
What's my stress level?
Well, how nice of you to ask! It's better. I put the blog on hiatus partly because I was feeling very stressed and overwhelmed by some behind the scenes stuff you don't need to worry about. By late summer, after months of rotten sleep, I finally started getting eight hours most nights. Whee!
What is the future of the blog?

I'm not 100% sure, except that:Most posts will be waaaay shorter than today's. (You're welcome!) Fewer "buy my book" posts, though I'd love for you to do that.I'll try to keep to a schedule. Once a month? Once a week? Somewhere in between? What do you think?
