Can You Guess?

Gabrielle Here:

I love going into museums and historic sites, not only to learn about people and places, but also to learn about things. When I worked as a historic site guide at the Charles A. Lindbergh Historic Site, we had several common items from the early 1900's on display that were totally foreign to modern day people. It was fun asking what the visitors thought those items were, and then hearing their wild guesses.

I thought it would be fun to show two items on the blog today and ask you to guess what you think they are. I'll give you a couple hints for each one, and then Friday I'll tell you what they are.

Item #1:

This item is about three feet tall. Its
design was patented in 1886.Item #2:

This item is from the 17th Century and fits in the hand.I'd love to hear your guesses (or correct answers!). I'll share more about these items on Friday.
