“It’s hard enough being gay in high school, but Fay must also deal with hiding his magical ability — powers he barely understands and cannot possibly reveal. His best friend Sam is his only confidante, and even with her help, Fay’s life is barely tolerable.

Everything changes when Janus University, a college for individuals with magical capabilities, discovers the pair. When the university sends a student to test them, Fay and Sam, along with their classmate Tyler, are catapulted headfirst into a world of unimaginable danger and magic. Fay and Tyler begin to see each other as more than friends while they prepare for the Trials, the university’s deadly acceptance process. For the first time, the three friends experience firsthand how wonderful and terrible a world with magic can be, especially when the source of Fay’s power turns out to be far deadlier than anyone imagined.” ‒ from Goodreads

Durmsnet is proud to present to you all our book club’s first book! Next week we’ll start reading Aspect of Winter by award-winning author Tom Early! The book is available for purchase on Kindle and on the Harmony Ink Press website, and if you feel like you really want to read the book with us but can’t afford to buy it, please contact Reb and they will be able to buy the book for some of you!

We’ll be reading about 7 chapters each week as the chapters are pretty short. This is how the schedule looks:

Oct 23rd ‒ Oct 29th: Chapter 1 ‒ 7

Oct 30th ‒ Nov 5th: Chapter 8 ‒ 15

Nov 6th ‒ Nov 12th: Chapter 16 ‒ 22

Nov 13th ‒ Nov 19th: Chapter 23 ‒ 30

Nov 20th ‒ Nov 26th: Chapter 30 ‒ 35

Hopefully this will work for everyone! If you’re loving the book and have a lot of time to read you can of course finish the book before everyone else, but please remember to not post any spoilers in the book club tag! (Of course you can post about something that happens in the chapters we’re reading one week after that week has ended!) The book club tag is #durmsnet book club!

Durmsnet will be posting content from the book on the network blog during the weeks we’re reading it on the tag #book club. We will not post spoilers!

After we’ve finished the book there will be a general Q&A with the author (!!!) where you can submit questions about the main characters, the plot, the writing process, etc. for him to answer!

If you have any questions, please send them to the headmistress, the librarian or to the network. You can also contact the author here on Tumblr at @tom-early-author!

Happy reading!

What a cool setup! If you have any questions about Aspect of Winter or the rest of the series, just let me know!
