THE TAKEN – what's it about?

I've been quiet lately, I know. Much of that is because I simply don't have anything to say. I'm not only between book releases, but I'm beginning an entirely new series and the cover copy, artwork, and specifics of that really aren't going to be available until next year. This means I'm free to write and generally live my life. Which I'm doing, though with the low-level anxiety that comes with NOT saying anything – either on Twitter or Facebook or this blog. Most writers choose to remain visible even during their downtime, but I promise you that this is my Real Life (ie. Non-writer life) M.O. as well — I just don't talk when I have nothing to say.

You're on the internet, you get enough of that, right?

But in case there's anyone out there wondering 1) what that Vicki Pettersson has been up to, and 2) when that new book of hers is supposed to come out, and 3) what it's about, I've decided to break silence for a quick update:

1) I've been scribbling a slow and steady 2K a day on the second book in the series, something I'm calling CB2 (Celestial Blues, book 2) or THE INFERNAL or THE LOST … depending on which side of the bed I get out of in the morning. Yes, it's still that nebulous.

2) Meanwhile, THE TAKEN, the first in the Celestial Blues series, is slated for June 2012 – exactly one year from my last release. Synchronicity…

3) As for what it's about, well I've gone behind my publisher's back and decided to publish the entire text online.

Now.

Today.

Here it is:

Wordle: The Taken

There – that clears everything up, doesn't it?

So now you know!

Any other questions? ;-)

Sharon I find it a refreshing addition to a genre that has become to organized. I especially like the randomness of font sizes and colors. Disorganization at its best! I feel like I can immerse myself in the chaotic world you have built. I look forward to my continued bafflement in this series.

heehee, I so funny
