Who are the 5 people to associate with?
Lean about this and another 100 entrepreneur mistakes in my book: 101 Entrepreneur Mistakes and Lessons.Who do you associate with? Because it is worth understanding that you are the average of the 5 people that you spend your time with.If you associate with 5 broke people, then you will become the 6th. Because the people that you associate with affects how you think, feel and behave, and this begins to affect your priorities, time management and productivity. Imagine if you went out partying every Friday and Saturday- how much work would you get done? Never mind the hangover you'd have that may interrupt the next day.A few years ago I used to go out drinking a lot, but over time I changed and so did my priorities, and as I changed I started to distance myself from them. I was becoming an businessman, and they did not like that. They wanted me to be a "good mate" and hang out with them more. But, I saw what hey were doing as wasting my time. The Law of 33% is something that I learnt near the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur, and this law states who you should spend your time with. Endeavour to spend 33% of your time with people below, the same level as you and above you. As you spend time with people above you, you are learning more, being accountable to them and they are lifting you up. As you spend time with the people at your level, you are helping one another and strengthening each other's cause. Furthermore, by spending 33% of your time with people below you, you are lifting them up whilst revising and remembering your own knowledge by teaching them what you know. This is why I am careful who I associate with; because I want people that will lift me up, help me in business, hold me accountable to my goals as well as someone that I can confide in my businesses and strategies with, because I respect their ideas and opinions.By raising my standard as to whom I associate with, I am creating a better future for myself.Question of the day: who are you associating with? Are they uplifting you?
