How I Wrote & Published My Latest Book

An interview with Nicole Leckenby in the Spring 2017 issue of The Holiday Cafe gives insights into how my latest book, Under the Kaufmann's Clock (Six Gallery Press) came to be, along with a look at who and what influenced me to become a writer.

A taste of the interview: "[A]lthough I always wrote poetry and fiction, I didn't publish any of it for years...

"What made me a published writer of poetry and fiction (and literary reviews) was the combination of a shattering breakdown and then, my divorce from the man who'd been both my college boyfriend and my husband of over 20 years. My life imploded. I had nothing to lose."

Thanks also to The Holiday Cafe for first publishing the book's title piece--a flash fiction written in a voice very different than my own--as well as two poems and another flash included in this hybrid 8 x 10 volume inspired by Pittsburgh and enhanced by Rebecca Clever's striking photographs.
