Managing your time-What works for you?

Managing your time...

What works for you?
The hardest thing for me about trying to balance a career and be a mom is time management. I mean, I can't even hardly pee without being interrupted. Nap-time is my savior in time managing. Everyone is going to be different, depending on schedules, but I will list the most important things to take advantage of and how to use what you can to give you more time in the hectic day of a career mom.
GapsYou need to look for gaps throughout the day. On day one go through your schedule as you normally would. Everyone has those moments of lost time. Those moments when five or ten minutes have past and you don't know where they went. These are prime times to take advantage of. You just have to notice them and apply them to your schedule. (example) I found that I had five minutes about every few hours where I was just off in another world. Once I pin-pointed that time I put it on the schedule and put it to better use. If you have time to day-dream, you have time to put towards something else.
SchedulesSchedules are very important in maintaining a successful balance between career and family. Write everything down from when you get out of bed to when you fall asleep. IF you want to schedule a nap (HA!) by all means, if you can find the time, go for it! Don't forget to schedule your weekends too. Those two days could be vital in saving precious time during the week. If your family has no plans, take advantage and clean house enough to take the load off during the week. Use this time to catch up on blog posts, marketing, social media, anything that will help throughout the week. Every detail in your schedule will matter for this to work properly. (example schedule) This is my usual day schedule...sometimes it changes if I find extra gaps, but this is a normal day.Monday- wake up at 4:00                  4-5 work out (mommy-time too)                  5-5;45 get ready for work                   6-3 work (I use extra time I have at work to catch up on social media, websites, and I keep a notebook to write things down so at the end of the day I can quickly type them up. This makes all the difference for me.)                  3-8 family time                  8-9 get things done (anything I need to catch up on with work)                  9-4 sleep-time (and if I get things done early I take advantage of sleep-time)Mommy timeIt is also very important to find you time. This is vital in helping you maintain a healthy and happy you. After all, what is the point in fulfilling your dream if you can't even enjoy it. Schedule time to pamper yourself, even if it is just a soak in the tub. Fifteen to thirty minutes a day will suffice. You can use mommy-time to go to the gym and this will take two items off your list for the day. You need to have a healthy lifestyle to continue your success. Be kind to your body and soul.
This process has worked wonders for my sanity so I hope you can put it towards your daily routine and use it to take a little of the crazy out of your life.
