Create a Company with Me!

I need help with something fun! I have decided that, for my Civil War story (aka, "Journey of Choice"), I will create my own company to be in the 18th Missouri regiment. This means I need 100 men (I probably won't mention them all by name, but I need to know of them as an author, right?). And I have four. ;) I feel very dry when it comes to thinking up SO many names, so I'm asking you: what are some Civil War-era names? First and last. Shoot away!!!

"Love." What a neat last name! :)

Kim Hampton It was my grandma's maiden name and I've always LOVED it...no pun intended! Her whole family is buried in Love Cemetery in Alma, Arkansas.

Zachary McIntire Personally, I sure wouldn't bother to name 100 men, but hats off to you for author dedication! If I were going to attempt something like that, what I would do is find an actual register of Civil War soldiers (like this one, to give a random example: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?i...) and then mix-and-match first and last names.

(Incidentally, FWIW, my research indicates that Civil War companies frequently didn't even start out with exactly 100 men.)

Haha! I'm actually probably not going to map out all 100, but I want the options there because I'm pretty bad when it comes to just grabbing names from "midair." And yes, the 18th Missouri was consistently a small regiment, hardly scratching 100 men per company.

Thanks for the link! Great idea! :)
