Today’s article comes from EliteFTS columnist CJ Murphy and is targeted at the novice strongman.  Since strongman competitors are a significant portion of the Garage Gym/Backyard Gym population, I thought this would be a good read for you.  You need a lot in a strongman program: basic barbell lifts, accessory work, practice with the events, conditioning, flexibility, mobility, and recovery work.
