Malcolm Gladwell pulled the 10,000 hour rule out of his ass. Anders Ericsson in his book wrote that it takes 10,000 hours of DELIBERATE PRACTICE (not just 10k hours doing something) to become an elite world class pianist/violinist. That’s it. No magic 10k rule was discovered in his research. We like to create narratives where they don’t exist.
