take a step up in line

Why don’t you take a step up?

For too many seasons, I would take a step back in line instead of taking a step forward declaring "it’s my turn". I will use a grocery store analogy but I’m speaking spiritually. Most of the time, I would be polite and allow others to cut while I continuously hold my items waiting for my turn to check out of the line. When, in actuality, I could have checked out five people ago and on my way home; toward my destiny. Well, maybe not five people but you get what I'm saying.

Are you like that too? Watching other people move up, taking your place because you stepped aside and they didn't even ask you to. The people check out, get their goods and go on about their business; while you are still standing there?

I mean, if you’re going to step aside, moving back even; not many people will give up a free space to save time. Of course, people will step right on in, while you and I constantly allow ourselves to stay in neutral. Have you had enough? Are you tired yet?

To be honest, I didn’t realize I was moving backwards by standing still. I saw myself “helping others” but hindering my progress. I’m the kind of person who wants everybody blessed. If I can help you, I will. However, this has gotten me into trouble and taken advantage of on countless days. But with these hard lessons, God kept me through it all.

I'm so thankful I realize that it's okay for me to be blessed, allowing my light to shine. Using the gifts God has given me. No more shrinking back to make others feel better. Shoot, we all have gifts. Are you using yours? If you grind in your own line, you won’t have to worry about somebody else’s.

People are either for you or against you, and you know what?  It's not my problem. Nor, is it my business what they think of me. I’ve wasted too much time worrying about this kind of Mickey Mouse stuff. I’ve given up too many spaces in my line but no more. Are you with me?

If you’re one of those people who have no idea what I’m talking about, good for you honey. Help somebody else move forward, as you continue to stand and shine. But if you are one of the allow-folk-to-cut people, it's not God's plan for you and I to keep giving up our spot. Help yourself stand up by changing your mind. You have the goods on the inside.

​No longer should we toss our pearls to the swine. Recklessly, giving our valuable kindness and goodness to those who can’t even appreciate the gesture.  This is biblical. No, please don’t be bitter but use Godly wisdom. Ask God for it.

I'm humbly learning my worth on so many levels because my tank had run low. Now, I've seen my error and I embrace my place in line. I’m standing there. So when it's time for me to "check out" I take my turn and it's alright. :-) Why? Because we are all in line. You must ask yourself, "Am I moving forward, keeping my place?" Or “Am I allowing others to cut because I think I'm unworthy and not ready for my ordained place?"

In your heart, you know the truth. So tell yourself. Whatever it is? Be TruU with it. After all, we've wasted too much time stepping back. Deal with the truth and step up in Christ. Go on, move on up. :-)
