I’m a 38-year old artist of (usually) adult webcomics from Minneapolis. I have been posting comics online since 1996.

You may remember me from such comics as Wendy and Cutewendy, which were both very, very 2000s anime comics. After that was Girly, which was a meta retelling of my 2000s anime comics with added storytelling and characterization. While it did often get a bit too experimental for its own good, I am still pretty proud of that series.

I draw You Suck now, a much more positive comic than its title implies. It is about a community college gal, a naive succubus who shows up from nowhere, and the strange friendship that forms between them. I created this comic because I wanted to do a story that was kept relatively simple, plus we never see stories about women being total stud monkeys and I wanted to give it a go.

I created a site called Slipshine back in 2001. This was the first adult comic paysite to properly credit its artists and pay them a fair amount for their work, and it went on to become one of the first sources of exclusively sex-positive comics on the net. I ran this site for nearly 15 years up until January 2016, when Hiveworks took it over. I am still its chief editor.

I am a huge advocate of sex-positive and female-friendly porn in general, simply because there is a hugely disproportionate amount of porn in the other categories. I do enjoy all kinds o’ smut, but I prefer the kind that shows that sex is FUN for EVERYONE involved.

I am also a big advocate for mental health education. As is the case with many comic artists and creative types in general, I have pretty bad depression and other brain issues… but it wasn’t until my 30s when I started seeking real help for it. I kinda grew up thinking I couldn’t be mentally ill because I didn’t need a straight-jacket, or did I believe aliens were broadcasting messages through my teeth.

In the past, there’ve been instances where I lost my temper out in the open online, moments I’m not particularly proud of. If you’ve been following my work for 5-10 years, you probably have seen at least one of those moments. I’m apprehensive to say it was a result of my depression, as I don’t want to say my illness is entirely to blame.  Basically, my depression had a lot to do with it,  but that doesn’t completely excuse me from the rather gross stuff I said… I don’t look back on such things with fondness and I’m workin’ hard to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Aside from comics, I’ve also been obsessed with videogames for as far back as I remember. Playing Donkey Kong in the arcade may seriously be my earliest memory, and my support for Nintendo hasn’t really waned much since then. The Gamecube is probably my favorite system, but I like the WiiU all right too. Super Mario Maker was kind of a dream come true for me and I have made a few goofy stages for it. I’m also really into the PC Engine and games by Falcom. If I had to pick a favorite game ever, it’d probably be the PCE version of Ys Book 1&2, which I am speedrunning right now. I enjoy streaming my gameplay like a lot of folks these days, but I’m trying to get in the habit of streaming my art more as well, which people seem to prefer for some reason. :)

I use emoticons too much :) :P

And aside from comics and gaming, my other big hobby is karaoke. I’m pretty good at it, from what people tell me, though I don’t plan to pursue a singing career anytime soon. I am a fan of bands from my youth, including the lame ones like Bon Jovi as well as the underrated ones like Fastball… but I enjoy new music too, which is always introduced to me via Minneapolis’s public radio pop station The Current, of which i’m a monthly donator. I’m pretty fond of Jeremy Messersmith, Craig Finn, and Courtney Barnett. and Dave Grohl, of course.

I contribute porn comics to my own site sometimes… and lately I’m trying to step it up. Probably my most known creation for Slipshine is Doctor Voluptua, which, after a few unfortunate hiatuses, will be coming back to complete its latest chapter very soon, and the art will still be done by my collaborator Maya, who will also be taking over the pencil work on You Suck, once Chapter 6 begins… also soon!

I love cats… I live in a townhouse with the two cutest cats ever. Also a fellow comic artist named Diana and a nice dude named John.
