I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Was a clap from the sidelines kind of girl.

The first person to say they loved my writing was a boy in my 10th grade English class. (So I dated him).

I write every book with one person in mind. My reader.

Maybe this next book will be for you.

Hope so.

There were times I'd have to take breaks and walk around the block or kiss one of my puppies or just make dinner to get the images out of my head. It was haunting. I felt unspeakably sad for Allie. I missed Leah as much as she did. I felt bewildered. I felt overwhelmed. I felt scared and angry and like it was part of a bad dream. Until I wrote the end. Then I felt hopeful. Great question. I work out. I go grocery shopping. Or the complete opposite. I sit on the couch and draw the blinds and watch movie after movie or have a Netflix binge. Writer's block for me usually happens when I'm exhausted or have pushed too hard. So I either re-energize or pamper myself. (less)

We Are World Builders

As writers, we are world builders.
I don’t just mean when we sit down to write our stories. I don’t mean during Nanowrimo or any other wrimo. I don’t mean during word counts. I mean that we, as writers, are building worlds together.

The people we meet at conferences and workshops, on Facebook and Twitter, those people are parts of our world. The things we add to it. They are the building material Read more of this blog post »
