USA Today Bestseller Deb Marlowe loves History, England and Men in Boots. Clearly she was destined to write Historical Romance.

A Golden Heart winner and Rita Finalist, Deb grew up in Pennsylvania with her nose in a book. Luckily, she'd read enough romances to recognize the true modern hero she met at a college Halloween party—even though he wore a tuxedo T-shirt instead of breeches and tall boots. They married, settled in North Carolina and produced two handsome, intelligent and genuinely amusing boys.

Though she spends much of her time with her nose in her laptop, for the sake of her family she does occasionally abandon her inner world for the domestic adventure of laundry, dinner and carpool. Despite her sacrifice, not one of the men in h

Hi Cintia!

There's no denying, publishing is a hard business! If you want to write, you really have to sign on for the long roller coaster ride.

My best advice is to make sure you enjoy the process. Find joy in putting your story on the page. It will sustain you through the long process to publication. And on the many ups and downs that continue afterwards. There is rarely such a thing as instant success, so making yourself happy in the long process is key. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy the rush that comes with creation. Enjoy learning something new every day. And brace yourself for the fact that you will wake up every morning with a to-do list that will not be conquered! :-)

Wishing you the best!

Hi Heather! Thank you so much for the question!

Well, I can answer that easily, because I have done just that--written a book--a series, really--in another genre. :-)

I adore my Regency Historicals and I'm not giving them up. But I'm adding a new genre into the mix. I wanted to write something my kids can read. I wanted to involve them in the process a bit and have something we could share as it came into being.

So, I've written a Young Adult Fantasy Adventure called Eye of the Ninja. It will be released in October, 2015. The second book, Obsidian's Eye, will follow in December. I've had great fun with this series, researching the myths and folklore of Japan and mixing them in with adventure set in the near future. I hope you will try it out!

Eye of the Ninja is up for pre-order and already on Goodreads if you would like to read a sample or check it out!

Many thanks for your question!(less)

“His kiss burned hotter, coaxed harder than it had done earlier and she responded in kind. Her arms crept higher. Up and up again, she allowed her fingers to wander, over the broad expanse of his chest and along the strong and solid column of his neck. She fulfilled the fantasies of a thousand nights when she slid her fingers home—into the thick, silken strands of his hair.”
Deb Marlowe, Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick

“Look what just happened,’ she said softly, allowing laughter to leak into her words. ‘You just shared something of yourself—and the world did not end. Nor did I fall hopelessly at your feet.’

‘Why do you bother, then?’ he asked hoarsely.

She stroked a hand in his hair. ‘Because I want you to know that it is possible.”
Deb Marlowe, Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick

“She blinked away memories to find him staring at her with a mix of concern and horror on his face.

Chloe shivered. ‘Why do you look at me like that?’

‘Because you scare the hell out of me.’

She rather liked the sound of that.”
Deb Marlowe, Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick

“He half-turned in his seat and her breath caught. He was laughing.
And she was falling, into dark eyes brightened with amusement and a handsome face transformed by wry humor. What a difference it made in him. He'd been compelling before. He made her blood heat now.”

Diana in SC Deb Marlowe is one of my favorite authors. My favorite quote from Deb Marlowe comes from her Regency romance short story "A Slight Miscalculation" in which Jane is a young lady who met the young astronomer and viscount Worthe when she corrected his mathematical calculations. Later, Worthe says to Jane, "I'm afraid I've made a couple more miscalculations...I miscalculated how important it is that I see these stars every morning when I awake."
'She frowned. "Stars?"'
'He grinned. "The constellation Andromeda. The princess, in fact, etched finely in freckles across your lovely nose and cheeks....Yes...There is also another worrisome number plaguing me, almost beyond calculation...It's the sheer number of hours, days, months and years I would be miserable without you."' ---from "A Slight Miscalculation" by Deb Marlowe
So romantic!
