Five on a Friday
Happy Friday, everyone!
I hope you're all looking forward to a great weekend. Mine includes a sparring tournament (for the kids, not me), a crawfish boil (yummy), and some great revising, critiquing, and reading.
And before I forget, if you ever wonder why I love dystopic stories, you can head over to The Spectacle to find out (hint: think way back to the 70s). We've been posting all week on the topic.
Also this week on The Texas Sweethearts blog we featured awesome librarian Christina Hicks! Sh...

A Million Bits of Fun
So it seems like a ton has been going on the last week, and the weeks ahead are filled, too. There's just something about this time of year that fills the calendar. But busy is good. Actually great! I'd much rather be busy than idling away my minutes.
Oh, here's a good quote I found:
"What would be the use of immortality to a person who cannot use well a half an hour?"
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson, poet
So yeah, get out there and do something!

Do you take pride in what you've done?
You know a couple weeks ago when I turned...when I had my birthday, I put together a list of things that make me happy. Some of these are people. Some are material items. Some are more abstract. And some are accomplishments I'm proud of.
They say pride is one of the seven deadly sins, so is it okay to take pride in your accomplishments? Or should we live a life of humility and never tout ourselves or anything we've done? Or is it only a matter of taking pride a bit too far.

One Step Past Overwhelmed
So I think we've all been there. We come home and there are fifty million things that need to be done RIGHT NOW. The more places we look, the more things are waiting. Our books aren't written. Our emails aren't answered. And there is dust an inch thick on our bedroom dresser. And let's not even get started on the closets. Clothes fall out all over the place, and the bookshelf is a shambles.
We hear scratching and the dog wants to go out. And to top things off, the tortoises are pacing back and...

Spreading the Awesome
Happy Monday!
So Elana Johnson had this fabulous idea to hug a bunch of authors and books today. It's a day to celebrate books that we've read and loved and want to recommend to the world! It's a day to check out every book and author on the master list and find some new reading material you think will interest you.
A huge thank you to Elana for organizing such an awesome event!
For the master list, check out this link!
NOTE: Read to the bottom for your chance to win this book!

Five on a Friday
Hey, everyone! I hope you all had a great week and have fun plans for the weekend ahead!
1) I'm signing at Barnes & Noble in the Arboretum in Austin on Saturday, May 1st at 2:00 pm. If you happen to live in the area, I'd love to see some familiar faces! Please come by. I'll even tell you where the bathroom is and where the TWILIGHT books are shelved.
I was so psyched to walk into said Barnes & Noble on Wednesday and see this amazing display of my books front and center. Like first thing when yo...

Happy Birthday to Me!
Hey, it's my special day! And in honor of my special day, I hope everyone out there has a special day, also! Let's make it a day full of lucky pennies and good clearance prices and book deals.
So it's a big birthday for me, and anytime we hit milestone moments in our lives, it's worthwhile to take a step back and acknowledge the things that make us happy. In the spirit of that, I leave you with my "Happy Birthday to Me" video. I'm hoping someone besides just my mom and my dad and my Aunt Helen...
