Mongrels Podcasts So Far
Figured I’d archive the posters/banners each place makes, and slip the link in so’s they don’t get just completely lost. Will embed when embedding’s a thing, too: TIH 092: Stephen Graham Jones on Werewolves, Mongrels and Common Writing Mistakes Check out the “Show Notes” on that click, too. Most places? They don’t give you a cheat sheet. Also available on YouTube: And here’s the part II of that: TIH 094: Stephen Graham Jones on Story Revisions, Endings and Audio vs. Print Books Probably on YouTube as well soon. And here’s Chewing the Scenery—all kinds of fun: Up in a bit / to be edited in: Miskatonic Musings. And, in case missed them, a couple of non-interview videos I rigged together:

Too much coolness in one place
Which is to say: Bob Seger singing a Waylon Jennings song written by Steve Earle. Maybe the most golden pedigree I can dream of. I mean, okay: if this was somehow all happening in the passenger seat not just of a 77 Trans-Am, but if all three of these music makers were in the actual car with Burt Reynolds AS they’re shooting Smokey & the Bandit, AND Jerry Reed-as-Snowman is riding right behind AND they’re driving past Graceland, then it could maybe be cooler. But until that day:

Mongrels: the Texas Leg
This is from Murder by the Book—which shuttered up as soon as I was done, as the rain was coming down, and Houston’s understandably pretty water-shy this summer, and where we were was evidently a place that goes lake just when the humidity gets high enough. That’s the with-specs shot. Here’s the without, where I suspect I’m, for reasons not really know, explaining Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle to the tolerant audience: And yes, that’s a Longmire poster behind me. I so wanted that Longmire poster. Maybe Craig Johnson can have one sent to me? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mr. Johnson. Dig the books. Here’s the same moment, different angle (i.e., more Longmire), from an old friend, Amy Howard: Yes, I sit on tables like Beavis & Butthead’s teacher. Can’t help it. Also, talking who took what photo: thanks to Tom Darin Liskey, for such cool photographs (those top two are his). Mine are always shaky and junky. His actually take things into account that I don’t even know what they are (light? composition? framing? these are all made up, I suspect. part of some conspiracy I won’t even guess at). Mine, also, tend to be not-existed. As in, I forgot to take any snapshots of signage or actually cool stuff. But, reason why, maybe? I got to sign a book for Charlaine Harris. This means a lot to me because the opening credits for True Blood kind of infuse every page of Mongrels. Also, that dude in the hat, sitting front-row, two pics . . . → → →

Mongrels #1 in Denver
According to the Wall Street Journal: And here’s the longer list, via the Denver Post:

Werewolves out in the World, part IV
The first three parts of this are here: one, two, three. And this part? Starts with “Rainy Day Book Porn,” of course: Which—those are some books Mongrels hasn’t shown up by yet. Cool. And, lest we forget the audio version: And, what’s weird, and maybe even unnecessary? To screen cap your (my) own (Whataburger) post instead of just uploading it straight from my camera roll: (trick is, it all sizes better if it’s screencaps) And, man, this is one of the cooler places to be: a BookPeople shopping basket: And, if you can read half while waiting for a cab, then all you need’s a bit longer to burn through the whole thing: And here’s some good while-reading gear. And post-reading. And pre-reading. Also, I feel I should maybe say: the designer (Figbar Lonesome—another early reader) is getting any and all funds from this. Me: nothing. Just supercool shirts: Or, I should say: supercool shirts about to be worn by one of my editors—the dude behind This is Horror. And, don’t know I ever finally make it to Magnum PI-land. But at least Darren and Libby and a certain punk kid have: ( that’s Bojan Lewis, Simon Ortiz, and Karen Clark ) And, some wolves, they sneak up behind you . . . Cool to be in there with Paul Tremblay, too. If you don’t know his name already, you will when Disappearance at Devil’s Rock hits the shelves (soon, here). And here’s . . . → → →

Werewolves & the Dallas Morning News
Remember that amazing-cool review of Growing Up Dead in Texas the Dallas Morning News did four years ago? I do. Welp, just pulled into Dallas, picked up a Sunday paper down at the hotel’s coffee shop, and: Extended (and complete) interview here: http://www.dallasnews.com/lifestyles/... And here’s what you get on that 4E: Would have taken a picture of the whole thing, but it goes from the top of the page all the way to the bottom, and my arm’s not that long . . .

Werewolves out in the World part III
If you want to peel back the days: Part 1 of this Part the second And, would wait to post this until Monday or Tuesday, but the cool pics keep stacking up. If I wait any longer, this post won’t load. So, without me making this post any longer with boring words, let’s get to the snapshots: Mongrels isn’t only with a book about the Black Hills, but . . . see how that’s where this wolf is going? He knows where’s good. He knows where matters. And, way east of South Dakota (or, guess that snap was actually FROM Montana), here’s some NYC fun: Freaking out is the proper response, actually. And, this is . . . “McNally Jackson?” Whatever exactly that means? (Sorry, I’m a bumpkin from the country, there’s still frost on the pumpkins, all that). And, dig this hashtag, yeah? I mean, I dig the hashtag. And the weekend plans. And here’s one of my friends from the wayback—and still—in Lubbock, Texas: Especially cool as I’m right-now reading My Best Friend’s Exorcism, and I’m so anxious to finally get to Hex. And I’ve already got The Fireman in my head, and heart. Also, does everybody know about yo-yos and novels, and I’m just late to the game? None of my yo-yos were ever that cool, anyway. Also, most of mine came from the gas station rack already broke. Like, they’d loop out from my finger, but then never come back like I was always hearing’s cool. I’ve had various broken hula hoops and roller skates, . . . → → →

Mongrels Q&A
I mean, I figured SOMEONE needed to step up, answers all Mongrels questions. Then I figured, hey, wait: that’s me. So I did:

Werewolves & Me
Me in my office, playing with all things werewolf related. At least those I could reach without getting out of the camera’s eye. Also some talking, some reading, some injudicious swaying from side to side, like I just spilled koolaid on the couch but nobody knows about it, and I really-really need to get outside, like acres away, and play for about fifty-four hours:

Werewolves out in the World, part II
This is the second batch of these. First’s here. So let’s start with: Thanks to Lesa Pascavis Smith on facebook for that. I dig how nervous the werewolf is—how not to be, right? Little Shop of Stories stands Mongrels up on the table, even: How Mongrels looks with cool boots: How it looks while being read: How it looks on a t-shirt (there were six or eight copies of Mongrels printed up way before the ARCs, and this is pretty much the covers they had): Click the t-shirt to go the place with all the merch links. And here’s a snap I actually took: That’s Boulder Bookstore. Lucky number 21. This is . . . I don’t know. A book table in some bookstore, looks like: No worries, CynCruz23. Scars is so much, um, darker (?) than Mongrels. I kind of think of Mongrels as Lilo & Stitch, with Werewolves. Not to say people don’t get digested, and there’s not a lot of icky gore. And there may be a furry and/or feathered pet or two that meets a somewhat untimely (to it) end. But still: it’s so not Scars. The Least of My Scars? Read it on a beach and the sharks come. Mongrels, though, Mongrels is fine: And, here’s how the yellow werewolf book looks on a cool granite countertop: Pretty slick company, yeah? Of those, I’ve only read the Joe Hill so far, and it was of course excellent, though I worry about it and Mongrels kind of touching there, as werewolves have . . . → → →
