A specialist in American diplomatic history, Armin Rappaport was professor emeritus of history at the University of California, San Diego, where he taught from 1967 until 1983. Rappaport earned his B.S. degree at the University of Virginia and his M.A. at Yale. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he earned his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1949. Before teaching at USCD, Rappaport was a member of the history department faculty at UC Berkeley from 1949 until 1967.
