Is Muscle the Key to Longevity?
Is muscle the antidote for inflammation? Is it the key to longevity? Is the solution muscle? As we age you can actually be the exact same weight as you were 30 years ago. Here's the difference, if you are not actively putting on muscle, you are actively losing muscle.

I am not discussing this to scare you or push you in to understanding the value of strength training. I am sharing this information with you because I've seen it time and time again. I know first hand the importance of putting on solid dense muscle tissue to help with inflammation, cortisol levels, hormones, bone density, and much much more as shared in these short clips.
Getting started can be overwhelming. It can be confusing and a daunting task. In reality it can be a very small portion out of your day. In fact I'm seeing incredible success with students starting in their 50's, 60's, and 70's committing to a few body weight exercises 20 minutes 3 times a week. It can be that simple!

Glutes Galore with this ONE awesome Kettlebell Exercise
I wanted to make sure you don't miss this down right effective glute enhancing exercise. Basically Single Leg Deadlift holds on steroids. Not only will this get you a crazy Booty burn, but it will strengthen (yes tone and lift) your glute muscles like no other. Begin with the support hold as demonstrated in the video below. Make sure you feel your glutes while rowing the kettlebell. Keep your hips nice and square throughout. Start by hinging your hips as far back as you can go while maintain a nice flat back with your shoulders slightly higher than your hips. Start with 6-8 reps per side and repeat this for 2-4 rounds depending on how your body feels. Increase balance while improving ankle and foot stabilizers 2. Major core work. Yes ABS and Obliques must stabilize and activate like crazy to maintain this position throughout the row. 3. Improves posture while working the entire posterior chain and Lats at the same time. 4. This works every part of your glute including the glute medius which can be a little harder to activate. Starting today off with some easy BEAST deadlifts for sets of 10. This 48kg (106lb) Kettlebell was named the beast. To be honest with you it’s not really that heavy at all. In fact most of my students both younger and older can deadlift the beast safely. _ Now let me tell you why deadlifting heavier bells may actually not feel super heavy. I’ll give you one guess? That’s right... because they’re higher. The larger the bell, in this style, the higher it gets. Therefore the pick up range shortens significantly. Now this really began to bother me tremendously. Get stronger but lose your range! My OCD brain doesn’t like this at all. So here is my solution. _ The solution to keep the challenge real and even is to extend the range of motion. Here’s how to do it safely. Add 6 inch boxes once the bells begin to get larger. This starts happening in the 28 and 32kg range. _ This creates a very deep hinge and deadlift which can be practiced with some lighter bells before jumping in to the beast. Naturally if this is entirely too easy, using this particular range with DOUBLE kettlebells will be the obvious next step. _ All in all Kettlebell Deadlifts can continue to challenge you if you program them properly. As much as I’m a fan of barbell deadlifts I find the kettlebell deadlifts a safer alternative for a variety of people and used in a class setting. _ Cheers to getting your deadlifts on. My Thoughts Around Turning 40 Years Old - Today is my 40th Birthday
40 trips around the sun has finally come. If I’m being completely transparent with you, I’ve had a lot of anxiety and mixed emotions leading up to this day.
Here I am. Heart is pounding as I write this. Because the truth is I’m showing up stronger, fully alive, yet more vulnerable than ever.
I’ve firmly established my identity and earned my place under the sun. Helping more people than ever hunt their goals and turn their dreams into realities. The secret is out.
This year is going to be better than ever. So much goodness. I can’t wait to share my upcoming projects that will bring transformation to peoples lives. I look forward to strengthening relationships and creating new ones. I will continue to crush my own goals and set new ones. I’ve set the bar high and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here I am at 40. Now stronger both inside and out. Loves more deeply than ever. A believer in impossible things. Comfortable in my own skin.
No longer feels the need to ask for anyone’s approval. I know who I am!
Thank you for riding this wave with me. I will continue to show up for meand for you. Even if it’s hard or if I don’t feel like it. Because some days can be extremely hard. Rain or shine I’ll be there, no matter what. This is only the beginning. Now bring it!

Introducing ..... The NO ARM Kettlebell Swing
INTRODUCING..... The NO ARM KETTLEBELL SWING!
I’m so freakin exciting about this exercise and let me tell you why!!!
1. It’s an incredible teaching tool for people who love to use their arms instead of their hips!
2. Since I’m obsessed with showing people how to work around injuries, this is absolutely perfect for people with a broken hand, recovering from shoulder surgery, tends to use their neck due to using their arms too much, and people who fear that they may hurt their shoulder from swings. This takes the arms out 100%!
3. This is perfect for people who squeeze the crap out of the handle too hard. Some don’t know how to relax their grip. Much of this is due to not trusting their hips! This drill will take care of it!
4. Fast self-correction. If you’re not using your hips and following through correctly with an actual Glute SQUEEZE at the top, the bell ain’t goin’ no where. Okay that’s slang for your kettlebell will have NO POWER.
I created the No Arm Swing after working with every body type their is over the last 16 years. It’s the missing element for many who can’t quite figure out how to get the pendulum effect with their hips.
⚠️ Start with a LIGHT bell and begin with a GENTLE hip thrust. As you get the rhythm you’ll be able to sharpen your thrust to match the load you’ve chosen.
Yes you will feel your glutes activate well. Hope you enjoy this. As always make sure you have the sumo deadlift down pat before moving on to explosive exercises.

5 Reasons Why You Need To Be Part of a Community
As humans we are hardwired to be around other humans. We are designed to have connection and the sense of belonging. In fact belonging is a huge part of human survival whether you like it or not. Even as an introvert and someone who cherishes having the space to think, just be, and shut my mind off, I've personally experienced the important value of community.
Without getting too sciency on you, multiple studies have shown how hormones such as Oxytocin and Seratonin are the driving force for the need of human connection. I chose to share this important topic with you today because a tremendous amount of people are craving human connection. The beauty of this day and age is you can create connections and find community through in person and online groups.
Before I get in to the top 5 reasons here is one recent example of a couple of students of mine who built community, developed deep connection, and friendship.

{ we met on the internet... }⠀ ⠀ Through an online fitness group. She was a mom of 4, I was about to get married. It was 2012, and my first kettlebell idol, @laurenbrooksfitness , whom I would eventually train with weekly, in person, while I lived in SoCal, released this program that you could do on your own and had a Facebook group that you got access too. GAME. CHANGER. ⠀ ⠀ Now, I had bought several other programs before and I had NEVER finished one. But this one, not only did I finish, but I have made REAL friendships from the group. Like, have been to each other’s homes, shared meals together, and our kids know each other REAL. ⠀ ⠀ So REAL, that my now dear friend Amy @maharfamilycrafts sent me a quilt that she handmade. Isn’t it beautiful?!? She found the fabric after we spent a weekend together driving to Lauren’s first east coast kettlebell workshop in Charlotte, NC from Maryland. You could say she knows me well

1️⃣ Deep Suspended Single Leg Hinging 10 reps per side
2️⃣ Explosive Kettlebell Deadlifts from a deficit 10-15 reps
3️⃣ Elevated Bridges holding a weight 15-20 reps
4️⃣ Kettlebell Swings 15-20 reps

Am I Making a Big Mistake?
3 years ago my dream came true. I released a gym that people all over the world can access to any time of day and from every device, computer, TV, you name it. I have many of the same founding members from 3 years ago still happy as a clam seeing incredible life changing results being apart of Lauren's Playground.
In just a few days I've made the decision to not accept new members any time. This way I can focus on all of the current members and the new members coming in for the next few days before I close down open registration. I don't know when I'll open it again.
