Born and raised in New York City, Elizabeth Horton-Newton grew up exposed to a variety of cultures. In the 4th grade she wrote an essay stating she wanted to be an author when she grew up. After fifty years she has achieved her goal with the publication of her first book, "A View From the Sixth Floor: An Oswald Tale". Just ten years old when President John Kennedy was assassinated she was deeply affected by the event and its aftermath. Her second book "Riddle" was released in June 2015 followed by her collaboration with author Starla Hartless on the steamy "Carved Wooden Heart". In addition she has short stories in several anthologies. Her writing has been compared to Alfred Hitchcock thrillers and a short story has been compared to Stephen ...more

If you have an idea go with it. Write a brief outline of the idea. Remember nothing is written in stone; you will probably make a lot of changes on your way. Carry a small notebook with you or use your smartphone to take notes. You might be riding the subway or bus, sitting in a restaurant, waiting on line at the grocery checkout and have a great idea. Keep it beside your bed at night. I can't count the number of times I've awakened with a line, a paragraph, a fresh take on something. Set aside a period of time every day to sit down and write. Eventually things will start to come together. (less)
Elizabeth Horton-Newton I'm currently working on a new book with the working title "Riddle". It's a murder mystery with enough romance tossed in to warm up a cool evening.

Researching gypsy legends for my new release, Stolen Gypsy, I came across two I found particularly interesting. Both are related to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, but present differing tales of Gypsy involvement.

Gypsies were known as blacksmiths and coppersmiths in earlier times. It has been told that a blacksmith was commissioned to make the nails that would be used to crucify Christ. Becaus... Read more of this blog post »
