Interview and fairy art

A quick 5-minute interview just posted at ComicRelated.com

And I'm deep in the middle of Echo 22. Man, those girls are in the middle of some creepy stuff.

Drew and colored a fairy for a Gozer Games card, and I got permission to show it to you. What shall we name her?

Working on many projects right now. Some I may be able to tell you about in the next post.

A moment in the studio

Just a couple of things today, as I'm still in the middle of drawing Echo 22… which means I'm keeping a quiet routine and not stirring up any news. But even the quiet studio routine has its moments of unbridled bliss.

Robyn looked at the page I was working on yesterday and commented that the metallic shading I used on Julie's boobs didn't look right. We stared at Julie's boobs for a minute. (below is the actual panel)

I said "I don't really have any reference for that. I'm just making it up." N...

Free Comic Book Day Print!

Saturday is Free Comic Book Day…

…across the nation and parts of Alabama. You must visit your local comic book shop(s) and check out all the great comics on the market today. This is a good chance to try comics that have been off your radar. You may be surprised at the jewels you find, liiiike….

A New Print!

Bedrock City Comics is my local comic store. This year they celebrate their 20th anniversary! To commemorate the occasion, I drew a print for them, and local Marvel colorist Frankie Darmata ...

Look It Up Katchoo shirts

If you go to cafepress.com/Katchoo you can find a great selection of shirts with Katchoo's panel from the mini-series, saying "Look it up." This panel has really caught on with librarians over the years, for obvious reasons, but you can wear it too, just because it's so cool. Check it out!

Francine as Green Lantern?! Oh yes.

When I get too busy at the shows I often have to take the sketch list home and finish them in the studio. I had one leftover like that after C2E2… a request for Francine in a Green Lantern costume. Shipping it out today. Thanks Jeff, for your patience.

Echo is published by Jemma Comics in Greece. Received copies of the new book yesterday and they look great. Wanna see?

It will be very satisfying to see the ancient Greeks in issue 17 talking about Phi in Greek.

A member of the band, We Govern...

Card art for Pediatric Oncology

Just finished sketches on two cards for an auction to benefit The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. The auction will be held at the Chicagoland Entertainment Collector's Expo, Sept. 10-12, in Carol Stream, IL. I can't imagine a better cause, so I'm letting you know about this. I know it's awfully early notice, but put it on your calendar and bid on the cards if you can. Take a look at the Pediatric site and you won't be able to resist.

Since I had two cards, I decided to draw one p...

Echo Moon Lake made the 2010 Maverick Graphic Novels short list, along with Neil Gaiman's Coraline and Ray Bradbury's Farenheit 451. It's quite an honor to be in such select company!

You can pick up Moon Lake or any of the four Echo TPBs  in our store here.

That's right, FOUR TPBs! The new book, Collider

…is on its way to stores now, but if you can't wait, we have it in the store for you, ready to go.

Also NEW! in the store, the 2010 Echo-CBLDF print benefiting the Comic Book Legal Defense...

C2E2 Report & Pics

First off, just so you know, Echo 21 is complete and at the printer. Look for it soon. Also, the new trade paperback Echo COLLIDER, collecting issues 16-20, has shipped. You should have it in the stores within a week or two.

And, one last chance for you… we have about 10 SiP Omnibus left in the warehouse. If you want one from us, order now. Once we're sold out we can't help you. You're on your own, and I'm afraid prices will go up because this is a one printing book.

Robyn and I got back from C...

Echo 20 inking

Don't worry. Even when I'm sleeping my assistant works through the night to bring you the next issue of Echo. He comes alive when you're not looking. He's very demanding. He makes me buy Dr Pepper and drink it every day. He makes me eat chocolate. Bad assistant. Bad, bad assistant.
