Louise Cusack lives in Australia, in a tiny fishing village on the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef. She's a long-time vegetarian and caffeine addict with an obsession finding the tiniest shred of romance in any story and wallowing in it.

Her novels are about curious women who get themselves into unlikely situations - whether that's an everyday woman from our world falling through a portal into a sepia kingdom, an amorous mermaid who gets herself stranded on dry land, or more recently, a perfectly ordinary house-sitter who finds herself husband sitting instead! You'll have to read her recent release 'Husband Sit' to find out why...

Louise doesn't care what genre she writes in so long as the characters are endearingly real, the heroes ar

If I can't work out what my characters are going to do next, I either have a shower, water the garden or sit watching the ocean. There's something about the movement of water that gets my creativity flowing, and I know I'm not the only author who uses that tool. I've heard of others having bubble baths, going for a swim or even sitting at the computer with their feet soaking in a nice warm foot spa!
Having a sea change and moving to the ocean was the best thing I could have done for my creativity, but that's probably because I'm a seat-of-the-pants writer. Those writers who plot meticulously before they write, tend to go back to their character's goal/ motivation/ conflict lists if they get stuck, and that helps them remember what the characters want out of life. I've done that on occasion as well.(less)

I'm a seat-of-the-pants writer, so I didn't realize it would be a bodyguard romance until I started writing it, but I did have an inkling that once the lid came off Louella's emotional baggage, she'd be unable to deal with it.

Conversations with my own girlfriends in recent years uncovered the gem of wisdom that "Sometimes you do actually need a man for more than just opening stuck jam jars". If your emotional baggage revolves around sex, chances are that your girlfriends can't help you sort that out! So my idea for Louella was that she had a problem that she absolutely needed a man for, and not just any man. It had to be a man she trusted.

Hunky bodyguard Nick Aston, who readers will remember from book 2, is someone who's earned her trust with weeks of quiet, unobtrusive support. But can she stretch that physical trust into emotional trust?

This book was a rollercoaster in the writing, and reviewers tell me it's a rollercoaster read, so I'm excited to see it release on Amazon on 15 June, and I look forward to hearing what readers think!(less)

Grief and Writer’s Block

[image error]My big brother Peter died 15 months ago. Sounds like such a long time when I say it like that, but somehow the memory is still painfully fresh. He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 10 weeks earlier, and that was all it took – 10 weeks from diagnosis to death. Not nearly enough time for me to get over my shock and have any real appreciation for what he was going through, let alone w

Husband Sit (Romance)
1 chapters   —   updated Feb 08, 2016 04:59PM
Description: <i>“Hold onto your panties! Husband Sit by Louise Cusack is sexy and titillating from page one. But its more than that. It’s also funny and has a surprisingly deep emotional core that sneaks up on you. It’s utterly unique.”</i> <b>Amy Andrews</b>, award-winning, USA Today best-selling author. <i>Paid by wives to sleep with their husbands. Love is not in the contract…</i> Jill Wilson is fresh out of a ten-year relationship so boring she slept through half of it. Thirty-something, no children, no house, <i>blah</i>. The glamorous potential she and her three best friends shared as starry-eyed schoolgirls feels very far away, until an unlikely job appears – Husband Sitting – being paid by rich wives to keep their cheating husbands ‘happy’ at home while they skip off on vacation. Not the sort of job a nice girl would do, but the ten thousand dollar a week pay-check is exactly what Jill needs to stop her little sister ending up in a Bangkok jail. And maybe, just maybe, the sex sounds exciting too. Unfortunately, there’s one complication: gorgeous Finn with his sexy green eyes and his gigantor… you know. Love was definitely not in the contract, so in desperation to wipe Finn from her memory banks, Jill embarks on a bed-hopping frenzy. After all, the best way to get over one man is to sleep with another. But will Finn let her go? And as her emotional baggage arrives with an over-weight tag, can she believe in the fairytale of imperfect people ending up perfect together? <i>Crazy meets desperate in this erotic romp that nails the highs and licks the lows of one woman’s struggle to reach sexily-ever-after with the man of her dreams.</i>

Joan Hi Louise, Thankyou for inviting me to Good Reads. I will follow your page with interest, as my former mentor, and will be setting up my profile and books soon. I have been continuing my writing, as well as helping others get their books in print. Just completed writing a teens Fantasy Fiction adventure novel. Very excited.
I belong to a book club, and am always looking for great books to read.

Love and Best Wishes, Joan
