The Light.
There is a place inside me. Deep, deep inside me. A place that resides somewhere past all the darkness, fears and doubts of my humanness in a cathedral of solemn emptiness. Fathoms removed from the chaotic chatter of my mind, where mindless blabber spills like waterfalls churning torrents of endless noise. There, in the peaceful solitude it thrives—a most magnificent energy. It is a source of being conceived of purity, perfection, love and light. It glows with a mute brilliance, yet screams whispers to my heart. It is not the remnant of the Divine or Source, but rather it is It. The I that I am. My core. My essence. My very being about which all the rest of my universe revolves and journeys forth from. This core is the who I truly am, the who we all truly are. Nothing more than love and light. Gifted to each of us to be stoked with reverence. It is without name, face, color, or religion. It knows no want nor is burdened with any need. It just is as it is and it shines with perfection and magnificence. Like an embryonic universe expanding outward from its beginnings it stretches to grow in the dark void of the womb, but does so only when heard from the ears of the mind that seek knowledge and not those that require reply. Sheathed in a vast blanket of ebonic silence, I find myself yearning to float peacefully there for all eternity to feel its warmth and gaze upon its truth, for it is there I find meaningful communion with the infinite.

"What if the opportunity of your lifetime was in that phone call you didn’t take because you..."
What if the opportunity of your lifetime was in that phone call you didn’t take because you didn’t recognize the number?
Don’t live your life afraid to answer when opportunity calls just because it didn’t look the way you thought it would.
Take a chance. You can always hang up later.

T’is the Reason?
We are a week away from a holiday for which I have many, many questions. I grew up in a large family. We are the numerical match to the Brady Bunch, but numerical is as far as matching goes for our families. Christmas was regarded a holy holiday in our predominantly Catholic family–a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. I am not so sure I even understand how we got to where we are in our culture today through celebrating Jesus’ birthday.
So, let’s be clear, I am not anti-gift-giving or grinchy about Christmas. I just don’t understand why we have created such a commercialized phenomenon around a day we are to honor Jesus. He is quite worthy of honoring, indeed, yet where in the world did all of this hoopla come from? Why did it grow into something so commercialized? When I was a child, I remember how excited I was to get my blue, banana-seat bike for Christmas. Christmas was exciting, thrilling, full of surprises! I felt very thankful for the gifts I received.
Looking at today, I have to say I feel we’ve gone a little beyond the realm of giving new bicycles. We buy our kids $300 and $400-dollar items, and then feel we have to get more to fill the space under the tree. Kids are getting trips to Disney Land, vacations to Hawaii, flat-screen tv’s (the big ones), playstations and x-boxes, oh my. Are kids even excited anymore after receiving so many large gifts? What are they going to buy their children? Houses? New BMW’s?
Yes, I am being dramatic, yet I know you understand my query: When is enough enough? I understand not all children receive a ton of gifts for Christmas. I am referring to our current overall standard in our culture. What is the reason we feel we want to outdo our parents or our neighbors or, in divided families, the other parent? How is this helping our kids? How are they learning the value of things if they just keep getting everything gifted to them when they are 10 years old (seriously, a 10-year-old needs an iPhone–for what?!)? As parents, we can teach them how to earn, how to work and save their money over time and buy something for themselves. There is a LOT of value in allowing our children to experience the feeling of working hard for something and buying it themselves.
In the Spirit of Christmas, by all means, do good things for others. Spread joy, peace and love. Spend time making something special. Take your kids to see a museum of artwork created by people who originally sculpted or painted visions and ideas with their hands. Take your family for a ride to see the beautiful lights and holiday decor. Spend time rather than money with those you love. We are creating our experiences, and I understand many of you love Christmas and giving; but the most special and important things you can give are your time and your love.
Enjoy the holidays. Be present with your family. Give from your heart. Receive with your heart. Let the magic and joy of the people in your life and the season enlighten and awaken you. Allow the sweetness of each day to soak into your Being. Soak up some good sweets, too; just don’t overdo it. Please, let’s not overdo it.
Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah. Merry Kwanzaa. Happy Ramadan. Merry Celebrations of all cultures.
All my love. <3

Holiday Spirit
If anyone has bought the boxed holiday cards this year (you know, the ones that don’t have your family picture on them) and you have some left over after they’ve all been addressed, how about instead of throwing the leftover cards away, you put a dollar inside each one and write, “Thinking of you at the holidays.” Then carry them with you and hand them out to homeless people you see on the street. Rekindle the Spirit of what the holidays are all about.

Light
What if we could turn ourselves inside out so that the light inside us and the intention of our hearts could be viewed by every human being with the utmost clarity, without question, void of all judgment or prejudice of an outer shell—leaving no need for interpretation of word, action or appearance? What if we all just saw each other as the light that exists inside us? Do you think the brilliance would make us all go blind? (I could only hope.)
Try and shine your light today.

The Path
When you find yourself at a crossroad in life, the historical thought is that you must choose one direction or the other. Why? A crossroad merely signifies that the paths you have embarked on (yes, we walk many paths) have now brought you to a juncture in your life whose purpose is to ignite new passions within you. Nothing more than to awaken you to new opportunities. What do you want to do? It doesn’t require you choose this or that. You can do both. You can do multiple things. You can do ANYTHING. Your path in life is as narrow, or as wide as YOU make it. It’s YOUR path!

Let it snow!

Isn’t it amazing that no two snow flakes are alike? I mean, there are billions and billions of them, and no two look the same. Most remarkable is they don’t follow the same path in life as each other to get where they are going, yet they manage to come together and create such a beautiful world. How is that possible?
Do you think it’s because they know deep down in their unique structure that they all came from the same Source? Or that they find comfort in knowing they all are going to return to that same Source once they’re done here? Or maybe it’s that they find comfort and happiness in knowing that their short life and ultimate passing will make it possible for the growth of others. That by sharing the gift of what they are made of will give life to, and help others grow.
Time for me to go shovel…. its getting deep!
