Red Rooms and Others (Poetry)
1 chapters   —   updated May 13, 2015 06:33PM
Description: The poems in Red Rooms and Others remind me of doors that sometimes appear in my dreams, opening on rooms I can’t believe I’ve overlooked. Here are our rooms, hyper-realized, shimmering with light, dimensioned with perfume and music—the opera stage at rehearsal, the abandoned breakfast room in a German hotel, the soul-chilling waiting room, the dark room warmed by a beloved voice on an answering machine loop. Carol Levin captures the essential in each. I’m haunted by these poems. Kathleen Flenniken Published by Pecan Grove Press 2009
Sea Lions Sing Scat (Poetry)

Description: chapbook 2007 Finishing Line Press. Lyric Poems in response to the sea.Ilya Kaminisky wrote: “This beautiful collection is the book of days, a form that came to us from the ancient past, when the author looked at the landscape, daily, drawing the spirit from it. The landscape was not transformed. The author’s –and the reader’s– self was. So, here Levin teaches us how each “day has been / like the Italian plums we pick.” And we, the audience, play our “own role in storytelling.” What is seen in this landscape, is remembered (as Yeats suggested), in “a deep heart’s core” –
Stunned By the Velocity (Poetry)
1 chapters   —   updated May 14, 2012 04:11PM
Description: “Carol Levin’s book is an ode to the summer of 1968—and it’s not all hippie love and war protests. From a girl imprisoned in a convent, to a man with a secret fiancé—the voices in these poems trace histories from that iconic time: new, refreshing glimpses into that long hot summer. Together, they form a lyrical collage that sings with history.” Frances McCue Published by Pecan Grove Press 2012
