J. Nichole Parkins loves drama – as long as it’s fictional. She twists the real and unreal, weaving elements found in folklore and myth to create emotional reads with a punch.

Mother of three and full-time maternal health advocate, Jamee lives in a state of organized chaos. She fled south to escape the snow, although she spends the majority of her time avoiding the sun. Head in the clouds as often as it is behind a screen, she is never without a story brewing or a book (or three) in her purse. She can be found in quiet places, which is her natural habitat. Approach cautiously, she tends to run.

I remember writing something about a dog named Ruff. He had a rough life. Yes, I was cheesy even back then! I've always leaned toward dramatic, angsty, emotional stories, both when writing and reading.
To my delight my teacher loved my impassioned work and escorted me to the principal's office to show off my story. I knew - in that moment - I wanted to be a writer. I've never stopped writing, although I've let life and the distraction of my other love - public health - divert me from my original career path. Here I am, a quarter of a century later with my very own creative third-grader who shares my passion for the written word, full circle. Reinvigorating my original goal. (less)

There's something about bobbing around on the water with the sun reflecting on the bottom of the pool that seems to work. If I can't swim I go for a drive or a walk. Basically, I get off my butt and move! (less)

I’m SUPER excited that it’s available. It’s certainly been a difficult book to write and publish but I know you’re going to love it.

The feedback has been amazing!
