Ireland Gill has spent well over a decade preparing the story line for this new YA series: Negative Zero. It was originally created with intent to be a graphic comic book, but instead turned into a full length novel...and kept growing. You can have those "blocks," yes...they are terrible. If I've set time aside to write and I have a block, I use music to help me through it. If that doesn't work, I walk away for a while (plenty to keep me occupied - 3 kids). Most of the time, I'm lucky because I like to wait for something I call the "writer's bolt." I can be anywhere (driving, walking in a grocery store, working at my day job) and I'll get hit with a fabulous idea that is like the eureka moment. Once I'm home, it gets written down. I was just "struck by lightening," so-to-speak. THOSE are the moments that a writer needs to embrace.(less)
