1964 Pontiac Catalina original

You know our thing for Pontiacs, especially Wide Track-era Catalinas. This unrestored original low-mileage bomber is on the block at Hemmings.

Honda Acty 4x4 van

From Markus Anstadt: I believe these were made for the Asian market This one was spotted in a Denver neighborhood. 4WD version showing some rust. I'm not sure of the year, produced for many years.

We have posted on Japanese-market vehicles imported too North America, mostly to western Canada. Like the Nissan Figaro and Mitsubishi's tough little minivan.  Then there's Japanese nimble: the Toyota HiAce. And in Banff, Nissan's Pao. A pair of Japanese Suzuki COE pickups in New Hampshire.  Another Mitsubishi Delica.

Rivian R1S

Saw the R1S on Memorial Drive in Cambridge MA. Looked great as a SUV, not nearly as creepy as the Tesla pickup. We'll see who wins. We reposted Dan Neill's WSJ take on the Rivian a while ago. Our first sighting of a Rivian in the wild (or on the streets of Cambridge, anyway) was in April 2022. They haven't exactly proliferated since but we sure like the way they look.

Dodge City in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Don't see a lot of American muscular cars in Cambridge, MA. These guys were on Memorial Drive.

Parts Bin Land Rover, Cambridge MA

Coolest car in Cambridge, Mass. I learned to drive on Wayne Booth's L-R at Ste-MArguerite Station, Quebec, summer of 1967. That was the Summer of Love for some, but  for 12-year-old me it was the Summer of Land Rover. Here's a 1984 Series III L-R that sold at Hemmings last week.

Toyota Chinook on the block

AL posted this 1976 Toyota Chinook camper three years ago--we  called it a '78--and now we see that it is up for auction today on Hemmings, with less than 33k original miles.

Japanese Drift Cars: The Toyota AE86 and imitators

From Don Culbertson, in far-West Texas. "My son is a big fan of 1980s drifting cars from Japan, mainly the Toyota AE 86. The original AE86 is underpowered but it is rear-wheel drive with an emergency brake lever which locks up the back wheels allowing the car to slide sideways while making corners. Victor has a 2002 Subaru which he uses as a rally/drifting car on the open prairie in Marfa, Texas. Asked about this car (below), seen in a parking lot in El Paso, he identified it as a Toyota Supra. It has Japanese license plates and authentic detailing associated with the Toyota AE 86 drifting cars. .. "He says that the car is okay–but it’s too modern, not authentic, not his thing. And we have to go with the 18-year-old on this one, I think."AL: bottom of the post, a Toyota Supra spotted in Harvard Square.

Callaway Chevrolet Suburban: the Monster Truck

For another $25k, Callaway, down in Connecticut, will supercharge your Suburban or Silverado. But our favorite Suburban is the 1953 Plymouth Suburban, down on Deer Isle. Here's a 1975 Chevrolet Suburban.
