California Clean El Camino

We're back in Maine, still California dreaming. Spring is looking a little....terse and unforgiving, here on the Downeast coast. But there is plenty of light, and with some good rains, the green will grow in Maine just as it's fading out in California. H and I arrived at Logan Airport in Boston about an hour after the insane bombings....Patriots Day in Mass.,. As our bus driver noted, the highways are usually empty on P.D., but because of people exiting the city, roads yesterday were jammed. The news was sickening. Hope they catch the creeps, and fast.
Meanwhile we are reminding ourselves of California light with this I'm-guessing-1967 El Camino.

Carlos' 1968 Impala, Carpinteria

Auto standards here on the South Coast are pretty high. Admirable cleanness and clarity. No gewgaws. I screeched to a stop when I saw this very clean 1968 Impala parked in front of the owner's barbershop.

Salt Chevrolet, Cumberland Island, Georgia

from the photographer, Jarrod McCabe
"Found this salty Chevy on cumberland islandoff the coast of Georgia--a mostly National Seashore that still has some private residents. Sure was a pretty sight amidst 10+ miles of barren beach.
The owner is a caretaker at the stafford plantation on the island.  Not sure exactly what she's used for other than crossing the dunes to get to the beach. The folks that had her out that day said they saw the effects of all the salty beach drives within the first year she'd been on the island.  (not exactly sure when that was)  "this is where trucks come to die"i found the holes in the wheel wells to be rather impressive. Sounds like a pretty good way to go out to me."--J.M.

Santa Barbara Dodge Dart GT

Soft foggy morning on the East Side (Santa Barbara, not Manhattan) of my old hometown. Scent of flowers, black coffee, & sea.
