Smells Like Green Spirit (2024)

 I did wonder why they adapted a manga like Smells Like Green Spirit, which is already 12 years old, and --- BIG SPOILER --- without an happy ending. Maybe the reason is that it deals with school bullies, but it's set in the 1990s, so the reaction of the characters are quite binded to the era they are living. Mishima Futoshi is a gay boy living in the country; he is not exactly out, but he doesn't hide who he is, actually with his long hair he is almost parading it. He is bullied, but he really doesn't contrast it. There are even some teachers that I think wanted to help him, but he always brushes them off. Among his bullies, there is Kirino Makoto, who more than act, looks Mishima from afar; and Mishima looks back, making Kirino uneasy. Of course Kirino is in the closet, and he reacts badly to Mishima's openess, until the moment Mishima discovers his secret, and therefore becomes his only ally. Of course in a romance, the two boys would be able to overcome all dangers and live happily ever after. But this is the 1990s, and I think we have to be grateful there is no tragedy for them in the future: Kirino will marry and be seemely happy with his memories of Mishima, while Mishima, a famous drag queen, has a nice lover by his side. It's not an HEA for Kirino, it's a partially HEA for Mishima. Heat Level: 1/6.

My Damn Business (2024)

 My Damn Business is the perfect example why I like BL dramas: nice story even if a little bit predictable, good and handsome actors, sweet romantic comedy with just a tiny touch of sexiness that give it the right level of spicy. The plot is your classic office romance with a little bit of may/december thrope. The story starts from miscommunication to move to love in the span of 7 episodes, 11 minutes each, therefore the whole plot is developed in less than one hour and half, making it easy and quick to see (I did it during breakfast on Saturday morning, perfect lenght). The heat level is just kisses, but the kisses are really nice, they didn't feel fake or forced. And what is even more good is that the whole drama is free on Youtube So what are you waiting? go and see it, highly recommended. HEA. Heat Level: 3/6.

Mr. Mitsuya's Planned Feeding (2024)

 Mr. Mitsuya's Planned Feeding was sort of a surprise; it's an Age Gap story, and they are really respecting this thrope, the older man, Mitsuya, looks like Tomoya's father rather than his love interest. But it's undeniable that Tomoya has romantic feelings for him, arriving to be jealous to other men being around Mitsuya. Mitsuya's interest is not immediate like Tomoya, it's more like grewing accostumed to the feeling of having the young man around and realizingg he cannot leave him go. Of course this is a food romance, on the line of What Did You Eat Yesterday, so there aren't much public display of affection, but there is a lot of yummy food and sincere feelings. HEA. Heat Level: 1/6.
