Why I am raising my child to be a feminist and why I think you should too

When it comes to parenting, feminism is not discussed in any of the parenting books or the dad groups, or well, anywhere that parents seem to gravitate to for parenting advice. This baffled me, why is such an important issue not seen as a parenting issue?

A Resolution for Acceptance

I worked part time at a gym for several years. New Year’s was a big time for us and very busy. There were so many people busting through those doors resolved in their efforts to finally be what they had wanted to be for years before. I saw every body type hoping for their version [Read More...]

Ark Encounter official pens an op-ed claiming religious liberty is under attack

Still upset over losing their 18 million dollar tax incentive, Mark Looy, the COO of Answers in Genesis and The Ark Encounter recently submitted an “Op-Ed” to the Louisville Courier-Journal. Given that the piece is now only posted on the AiG website, I assume the piece was rejected, most likely because it is not an op-ed, but defense piece in which the organization still pretends it is allowed to break the law.

Finding a Better Santa

When I was a child growing up in a semi-conservative Christian home, Christmas was a magical time. Santa Claus was as real as God, as loving in his discernment of my deeds, and even more tangible and deliberate in his showing of approval. I knew Santa Claus was real because my parents told me he [Read More...]

Are donations made to the Ark Encounter violating federal laws?

Since the news broke that the Ark Encounter was losing its bid for an 18 million dollar tax incentive, its parent company Answers in Genesis has announced a new dollar for dollar fundraising campaign. While donation matching is nothing new for non-profits, there is a big legal issue at hand that is simply being ignored. Can Answers in Genesis, a religious non-profit organization raise money for a for-profit business?
