William Lester Eagleton Jr. was a United States Foreign Service Officer and diplomat who served as Ambassador to several Middle Eastern and North African states.

Author of two books, the Kurdish Republic of Mahabad (1963) , and Introduction to Kurdish Rugs (1988) , his friendship with the Kurdish people goes back to the early 1950s.
