Selfie in the Toronto Star

Hi there! I was chosen as one of 10 “Rising authors you need to meet” by the Toronto Star, and took a selfie of myself with the book. Check it out below.

Word on the Street 2015!

Hey Toronto, I’ll be at Word on the Street today!

First, at 12 pm, I’ll be with artist Hoda Zarbaf at Sculpting New Reads. She has created an art installation based on the themes of Cauchemar. It’s a fascinating sculpture—Check out the video!

Then, at 1:15 pm, I’ll be reading with Andrew Pyper, James Grainger and David Nickle ON A BOAT. No big deal.

Hi folks.

I’ll be reading at the Winnipeg International Writers’ Festival (THIN AIR) on Friday, September 25 (and I’m ever so excited)! For full details, head to THIN AIR’s website.

Oh, and while you’re there, please check out this blog post I wrote about Cauchemar.

Festivals aplenty!

A quick note to say: stay tuned for some wonderfully exciting literary festival news. I’m incredibly grateful and pleased to be able to share Cauchemar.

It’s officially sweltering.

Well, summer has arrived, and brought with it decidedly swampy temperatures and humidity.

In book news, there’ve been some very kind Amazon reviews recently—if you have a moment, please review Cauchemar on Amazon/Goodreads. As well, I spotted Cauchemar at the Danforth location of Book City and was so pleased.

Happy (almost) Mother’s Day!

If you’re on the lookout for a Mother’s Day gift, please check out Sideroad Twenty’s Wine and Book Club, which pairs (you guessed it) books and locally produced wine.

On offer is a copy of Cauchemar, and two bottles of wine: the Flat Rock 2013 Twisted and the Creekside 2013 Syrah. Delicious!

State of the (Cauchemar) Union

Hard to believe so much time has passed since I last wrote here, but it’s been a bit of a roller coaster ride. The book is well and truly out in the world, and I still feel so honoured when I see it featured on a table (or in the iBooks store!).

If you’re so inclined, please check out the stops on the Cauchemar blog tour, which went wonderfully. Thank you so much to all the bloggers who took the time to read and review it. It was personally rewarding to write the guest posts, such as my letter to my teen self for Dear Teen Me and a post on genre, fear, and writing as a woman for International Women’s Week.

The whole process has been much more exciting than I would’ve expected, but now we’re looking forward to a quick getaway to warmer climes with poor Internet connectivity.

Cauchemar is an Amazon.ca Editors’ Pick for Best Books of March

Yesterday afternoon, I was just whipping up a guest post, when a tweet nearly gave me a heart attack (in the most positive way imaginable).

Cauchemar is one of Amazon.ca’s Best Books of March, and the Canadian Spotlight pick!

These are the moments of good fortune you don’t let yourself hope for so as not to be disappointed. But of course hope—rude thing that it is—strong-arms its way in regardless, and sometimes it’s rewarded.
