Kelly Martin is a passionate and unconventional metaphysical thinker and writer who has been questioning reality since 1999. Writing on her blog Kelly Martin Speaks
and speaking on YouTube she traces her journey from shyness to greater confidence.

Kelly has explored many different paths from Reiki healing, Shamanism to Buddhism and now embraces a primarily mindful journey. After what felt like a decade of severe anxiety she took up mindfulness meditation and began to notice how much compassion and kindness lay in simply being with who she was, in that moment. Through practising mindfulness she began to emerge from a story of failure and fear to empowerment and greater confidence.

She wants to encourage people to find the treasures that lie wi

What I see around me inspires me. Even road signs inspire me. I can gaze out of the window and be inspired by the leaves on the trees or the rain falling. Often I will have a question pop up and I will suddenly begin a process of caving within. This brings up answers, more questions, and often inspiration for writing articles on-line, YouTube videos and other non-fiction work.(less)

I wanted to write a book that allowed people to be fully human and in doing so allowed myself the same self-kindness.(less)

Why Life Is Not All Sunshine and Roses

Why Life Is Not All Sunshine and Roses

The sun is shining on this spring day in my local home area, the birds are singing, the sky is blue. Society may say ‘Be grateful’ or ‘You should be happy, what a blessed day!’ but mental health issues are not like that. Mental health issues don’t care whether the…

The Antidote by Oliver Burkeman
“The point is certainly not that it’s better not to have money, say, than it is to have it. But it’s surely undeniable that if you don’t have it, it’s much harder to overinvest emotionally in it. The same goes for prestigious jobs, material possessions, or impressive educational qualifications: when you have little chance of obtaining them, you won’t be misled into thinking they bring more happiness than they do.”
Oliver Burkeman
The Antidote by Oliver Burkeman
“Attachment, this argument runs, is the only thing that motivates anyone to accomplish anything worthwhile in the first place. If you weren’t attached to things being a certain way, rather than another way – and to feeling certain emotions, rather than others – why would you ever attempt to thrive professionally, to better your material circumstances, to raise children, or to change the world?”

“You are conditioned to believe that if you let go, if you surrender, you will either be a victim of circumstances and not assertive in your own being, or you will be viewed as being lazy, lacking in willpower, and un-motivated.

Yet will and power cannot exist alongside one another. Motivation does not come into question when you surrender fully into the present moment. Motivation to do, to take action, to make moves, comes naturally from this surrender.”
Kelly Martin, When Everyone Shines But You - Saying Goodbye To I'm Not Good Enough

“Make sure you keep an inner state of flexibility, and are not tightly bound to your visions.”
Kelly Martin, When Everyone Shines But You - Saying Goodbye To I'm Not Good Enough

“How do you surrender when every cell of your being is screaming that your life is not working and that you need to do something to make it work? How do you surrender in that moment when jealousies, envy, doubt, rage, resentment all rise up inside you? You accept that you are resisting letting go; you accept that perhaps you are not yet ready to take your hands off the steering wheel; you accept this with kindness to who you are in the moment, being gentle and tender instead of beating yourself over the head with the 'Must hurry up, time is of the essence, everyone is passing me by' train of thought.”
Kelly Martin, When Everyone Shines But You - Saying Goodbye To I'm Not Good Enough

“I don’t know where I’m going on this path. I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. You had to be lost, before you could be found. These are the truths. You had to be confused, before you could find clarity; you had to suffer, before you could find peace. These were the only ways, life could happen. Of course you were confused before you found clarity. If you weren't confused, then you would already be clear. Of course you were lost before you were found. If you were already found, then you wouldn't be lost. Of course there would be suffering before peace. If there was already peace, then there wouldn't be suffering. One necessarily came before the other.”
T. Scott McLeod, All That Is Unspoken

“How is it possible that a being with such sensitive jewels as the eyes, such enchanted musical instruments as the ears, and such fabulous arabesque of nerves as the brain can experience itself anything less than a god.”
Alan Watts, The Book on the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are

“The way of the miracle-worker is to see all human behavior as one two things: either love, or a call for love.”
Marianne Williamson

“Trees are poems the earth writes upon the sky, We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.”
Kahlil Gibran

“Spiritual Partnership
... The new female and the new male
are partners on a journey of spiritual growth.
They want to make the journey.
Their love and trust keep them together.
Their intuition guides them. They consult with each other.
They are friends. They laugh a lot. They are equals.

That is what a spiritual partnership is:
a partnership between equals
for the purpose of spiritual growth.”
