Alex Smith is a writer, teacher, former textile merchant and adventurer. One of her great inspirations is travel. In the last few years, she has walked the Camino de Santiago across the top of Northern Spain, hiked in Turkey,lived in mainland China, worked in Taiwan, sojourned for a month at a golden temple in Chiang-Mai Thailand, and road-tripped through Iran and Southern Africa to the boarder of the Democratic Republic of Congo. ‘Four Drunk Beauties’ won the 2011 Nielsen Booksellers’ Choice Award. Agency Blue, received a silver medal at the Sanlam Youth Literature awards. Devilskein’s Day Out in the UK

It was thrilling to hear from my UK publisher, Cherry Potts, how much fun school goers had a a recent Devilskein&Dearlove tour date in Brentwood in the UK. As a writer, it is positively heartwarming to imagine that the characters invented at my little yellow-wood dining-table-cum-desk, were the subject of jovial discussion by an audience aged ten and up.
