While studying the Classics in college, Gail Strickland translated much of Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, as well as some of Herodotus’ prophecies. Living on the Greek islands after college, she discovered her love of myth, the wine-dark sea and retsina.

The Baltimore Review and Writer’s Digest have recognized Gail’s fiction. She published stories and poems in Travelers’ Tales' anthologies and the San Francisco Writer’s anthology. Her poetry and photography were published in a collection called Clutter.

Her debut novel, Night of Pan, first book of a young adult trilogy about the Oracle of Delphi, will be published by Curiosity Quills Press November, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Gail grew up in Northern California. She raised her children;

Is it the person who walks to school and checks text messages, buys some fries and tries to be a good friend?

Yes. But I think it’s also more. Some modern physicists think that we are like a drop of water in a spinning vortex—a consciousness in a greater field of Consciousness. A soul or psyche as the ancient Greeks called it that is connected to all life.

Karl Jung, a famous psychologist called it the collective consciousness. Physicists also talk about the butterfly effect: the idea that even the gentle flap of a butterfly’s wings can change the outcome of the future. I suggest it is this larger Self we should begin to understand. We are all butterflies.(less)

River City Sessions Live Recording January 19th, 2015

Hey friends of the Oracle!

Here’s something fun for you. This is a live recording from my River City Sessions at The Camp House, January 19th Chattanooga, TN. Hosted by Michael Gray on WUTC radio program. I had a great time reading from NIGHT OF PAN to about 200 people…my only problem? The lights were blinding. Couldn’t see a soul out there!

“We can speak and think only of what exists. And what exists is uncreated and imperishable for it is whole and unchanging and complete. It was not or nor shall be different since it is now, all at once, one and continuous.”
Parmenides

“Raise high the roof beam, carpenters. Like Ares comes the bridegroom, taller far than a tall man.”
