Greyhound Horror Story

I rarely bash anyone. I usually am pretty even minded about what I write so that no one feels like I have negative feelings about their service, but this last bus trip from Michigan was a trainwreck of no show drivers and disabled buses.

After an uneventful and very pleasant ride from Kentucky to Michigan I spent two fabulous weeks visiting my family.  The fun was contagious and so was the littl...

"Lovely story for children dealing with change. I liked how the author incorporated modern technology and the history of the pioneers into the story about a little girl moving away from her family."

"I enjoyed this book from start to finish. The author has written it very eloquently, but still simple enough for a young child to read and understand. I enjoyed the imaginative storyline. Being from a military town where families move frequently,..." Read more of this review »

NOt the same intensity or passion of North and South. I found the humor quaint but it did not grab me like her other books. The women were grousing a lot and I found it not enjoyable.

“Growing up is not easy for anyone but for anyone to deliberately block the path of the child from their family, it is nothing short of a sin.” Lowering her voice a little she quietly said, “I believe she has done us all an injustice.” The smile that she gave Melanie lit up her entire face as she patted the scrapbook. “Please look over the book and call me anytime. I don't sleep much and I will be here for you.”
Sojourner McConnell, The Path of the Child

“On occasion, resisting saying a public “I'm sorry” is the best way to handle a situation.”

“She had a bracelet on one taper arm, which would fall down over her round wrist. Mr. Thornton watched the replacing of this troublesome ornament with far more attention than he listened to her father. It seemed as if it fascinated him to see her push it up impatiently, until it tightened her soft flesh; and then to mark the loosening—the fall. He could almost have exclaimed—'There it goes, again!”

“I'm a real self-educated kind of guy. I read voraciously. Every book I ever bought, I have. I can't throw it away. It's physically impossible to leave my hand! Some of them are in warehouses. I've got a library that I keep the ones I really really like. I look around my library some nights and I do these terrible things to myself--I count up the books and think, how long I might have to live and think, 'F@#%k, I can't read two-thirds of these books.' It overwhelms me with sadness."
