Carrie Pack is an author of books in multiple genres, including Designs on You (2014), In the Present Tense (2016), and Grrrls on the Side (2017). She is a recipient of two Foreword Reviews INDIES Book of the Year Bronze awards: in 2016 for In the Present Tense (science fiction) and in 2017 for Grrrls on the Side (young adult). Grrrls on the Side was also a finalist in the Bi Book Awards.

Her novels focus on characters finding themselves in their own time—something she experienced for herself when she came out as bisexual in her thirties. She also hosts the BiSciFi podcast and is creator of the #BiSciFi Twitter chat. She's passionate about science fiction, feminism, and red lipstick. I wrote Grrrls because I hoped to spark discussion on these types of issues. Riot Grrrl was a safe haven for many, but unfortunately, that was not the case for some marginalized groups, like trans women. That said, I do not address the issue of transphobia specifically, but there is talk about how Riot Grrrl could be problematic due to its lack of inclusivity. Also, a couple of my characters deal with issues surrounding their gender expression—one gets criticized for being too feminine and another for being too masculine. (less)

More books by Carrie Pack…

Any books with wlw and the punk scene, or like that is set in the 90s, with grunge this kind of shit.

Stray City by Chelsey Johnson, Grrrls on the Side by Carrie Pack, Everything Grows by Aimee Herman, and Tegan & Saras memoir, High School, are good places to start. And I cant not mention that my story in All Out, Mollys Lips, is set at Kurt Cobains vigil.
