It’s a short e-story about how Rook became thrice sworn, thrice bound to the Mor, and how Finn/Phouka came to be stuck in his horse form. Here are links to three online stores where you can buy it, if you want to read it!

“Thrice Sworn” at Kobo (independent bookstores)

“Thrice Sworn” at Amazon (Kindle)

“Thrice Sworn” at Barnes & Noble (Nook)

If you’re a Magic Thief reader who hasn’t tried the Winterling books yet, this story is a good test to see if they’ll work for yo...

The RUNES

SOMEbody keeps hitting my website, asking this question:

What do the rune messages mean in the Magic Thief series?

GOOD question. There are two ways to answer it! One is to go to the Magic Thief page on Wikipedia, where some clever person has posted all the translations, from the magical runes of Wellmet to regular writing.

The other way is to use this page from the back of the book and translate the runes yourself:

Runes in book

Can you guess why the rune G is circled?

Happy reading!

Frequently asked questions!

One of the completely awesome things about being a writer is hearing from readers–and those readers often have questions. Yesterday I got an email full of questions from reader Llana (who is rereading the Magic Thief books) and her sister (who is reading them for the first time). I thought I’d answer them here.

If YOU have any questions you’d like answered (about the Magic Thief books), ask in the comments and I’ll update the post with your answers! We’ll make a FAQ together!

Okay, here are the...

Bitter Kingdom–CONTEST OVER

Thanks for stopping by! The contest for Bitter Kingdom ARC is OVER.

Do stop by again for future sentence games!

Coming in September, it’s The Bitter Kingdom, the highly anticipated third book in Rae Carson‘s fabulous YA Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy.

Because of Rae’s well known fondness for the feline species, I am replacing the usual dog-with-ARC picture and instead present you with this:

I call it “KITTYRAGE.”

Or maybe it’s “KITTYLRRRVE.” Seriously, my cat has a Thing for Hector.

Play the sentence game–with PIRATES

My dog Athena is being coy here (she hates having her picture taken), but trust me, this is one of the most hotly-anticipated (and extremely fun) middle-grade books of the year, coming out on September 10th from Harper (HarperCollins children’s books).

The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates: Magic Marks the Spotby the very nearly piraticalCaroline Carlson.

Benet’s List

Everybody knows Benet, right?

Tough guy, bodyguard, baker of biscuits.

Right now I’m working hard on revisions for the fourth Magic Thiefbook (title to be revealed soon!), and my awesome editor says I can include Benet’s to-do list, which might have his shopping list in it, too.

I’ve got some fun ideas for this, but I wanted to ask you, too.

What do YOU think Benet would have on his to-do list, or on his shopping list?

If I use your idea in the book, I’ll give you a shout-out in the acknowledge...
