Brought up in Hampshire but living in Sussex, I’m a big fan of castles (110 visited and counting…), cathedrals and circles of stone, of which Britain is, thankfully, saturated.

I write low (or grounded) fantasy, (The Fate of Vultures), dark fantasy (The Price of Sanctuary) and futuristic sci-fi (In Perpetuity, Chaya). Two WIPs are a historical epic and a biographical fiction, the former coming together ni

That's also why travel writers are so popular; people want to learn about new things and different experiences. Good luck with it :)(less)

If it's like Fox TV humour then probably not. If it's like George Carlin humour then absolutely. However, if this particular question is a quip you might use - though I shouldn't really speak for an island of 60 million people - then I'd probably go with nope, because it could be deemed to have a waft of underlying nark and condescension. But that might just be the internet and its lack of emotive connection.

Personal experiences, no matter how nuanced, are human experiences, so why not?(less)

Third time's a charm

Three things were on the list to deliver this year. Game of Thrones: Season 8. Avengers: Endgame. Muse: Simulation Theory Tour. ... Game of Thrones bombed. Avengers: Endgame was trying to be too clever for its own good, and therefore not clever enough (the fan theories were far more entertaining). And WTF was ripping off Loki's deserved character arc about? The fan theories for GoT by the way,... Read more of this blog post »

“Greatness, Master, is generally only considered enough if you are the greatest.”
Jessica O'Toole, The Fate of Vultures

“Do only the greatest good, for the greatest number of people. They will do the rest.”
Jessica O'Toole, The Price of Sanctuary

“I wish this world had none of it. That we were all bound only by the matter around us and the dreams in our hearts. But it does, and we are all slave to it, unless we give the challenge. What is the point of possessing the power you have if not to use it for the greatest good you hold so dear? And why do you think that goodness exists in doing nothing, rather than trying something you’re uncertain of?”
Jessica O'Toole, The Price of Sanctuary

“If you go home with somebody, and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em!”
John Waters

“Not all those who wander are lost.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“All your life, other people will try to take your accomplishments away from you. Don't you take it away from yourself.”
Michael Crichton, The Lost World

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.”
Bernard M. Baruch

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
Mae West
