DARK OCEAN
Dear friends and colleagues,
Forgive this impersonal message.
To those of you who have read DARK OCEAN, thank you. I hope you’ve enjoyed it.
If you have, can you take a few minutes to post a positive review on Amazon? Positive reviews drive sales and sales generate more reviews. Sales and reviews drive the title up the Amazon rankings, and this generates more sales, and so on. So I’d be most grateful!
For those who haven’t read it yet, I hope you find time to give it a go in the weeks ahead.
With thanks and best wishes,
Nick

WRECK OF WW2 “HELL SHIP” FOUND
75 years after the Lisbon Maru was torpedoed by an American submarine, which mistook her for a Japanese troop carrier, the wreck has apparently been found, 16 fathoms (98 feet) beneath the East China Sea.
The “hell ship”, as such vessels were known, was carrying 1,800 British and Canadian POWs and as she went down, Japanese guards battened down the hatches to prevent them escaping. Tragically, more than 820 died.
It was one of the most infamous acts of the war and closely mirrors the fate of the Lady Monteith in my novel, DARK OCEAN. I used the Lisbon Maru as a model for much of the Lady Monteith’s story.

Dark Ocean launched!
A World War II wreck lies beneath the South China Sea. Is her cargo worth killing for?
Marine claims investigator Angus McKinnon is summoned to Hong Kong, his personal city of ghosts, where a local shipowner and his beautiful daughter need his help. But their claim on a mysterious cargo lost during the War is not as si
mple as they say, and the cold case abruptly heats up when Angus’s old friend and mentor is violently murdered back in Greece.
Haunted, obstructed and plagued by self-doubt, Angus soon finds himself trapped in a web of international intrigue that draws him to the typhoon-lashed South China Sea and the shocking discovery of a plan to attack Hong Kong and hold Asia Pacific – and the world beyond – to ransom. But the trail doesn’t end there …
Amidst relentless danger, Angus’s resolve is once more tested down to the wire.
“Nick Elliott delivers in spades when it comes to fast-paced, intelligent, international thrillers. You feel, smell and touch every authentically crafted location; you’re expertly drawn into a maze of shadows and sinister organizations and characters where nothing is what it seems. This really is thriller writing of the highest calibre.”

Endorsement!
So important to get endorsements from other authors and I couldn’t have wished for a better one than this from Craig Russell, award-winning author of the bestselling and critically acclaimed Jan Fabel and Lennox crime thrillers:

Dark Ocean publication date looms!
Dark Ocean, the second in the Angus McKinnon series of thrillers, is awaiting formatting but should be published by mid August. It’s been two years in the making and I believe it’s a worthy sequel to Sea of Gold.
Meanwhile, as a foretaste, here is a draft of the book’s Blurb and a proof of the front cover.

Dark Ocean update
Last Friday I delivered the final draft of Dark Ocean to my editor, Helen Bleck, who did such a great job on Sea of Gold. I’m travelling for the next month but on my return I’ll make the necessary adjustments to the story incorporating Helen’s recommendations.
The next step is a final proof-read and eagle-eyed Mags Fenner has again agreed to carry out that task. Mags proof-read Sea of Gold.
Meanwhile, the cover design is almost complete. See below. Again I’m using the same talented designer as for Sea Of Gold, Peter O’Connor of Bespoke Book Covers.
The manuscript will then go to Jo Harrison, a Virtual Assistant (living somewhere in France) whose many skills include book formatting and social media marketing, both of which Jo has handled for me as well as designing this website.
So hopefully, sometime in May I’ll press the Publish button on Amazon and Dark Ocean will come to life.
Until the next time,
Nick

Angus Mckinnon – The Confidential Vetting Report
But is McKinnon up to the job of intelligence officer? Untrained, impulsive, yet resourceful and tenacious. Some have their doubts.
Sign up below for my newsletter and receive a confidential British Government vetting report on Angus McKinnon, the protagonist in a series of thrillers which began with Sea of Gold.
This report was disseminated prior to the events described in Dark Ocean, the soon-to-be-published second novel in the Angus McKinnon series.
