Hi, Marquise. I’m so glad you enjoyed the book. Thank you for sharing!

And yes—I love reading and writing retellings. I write some completely original stories and poems, but I have always gotten really excited about subverting existing narratives by reexamining them from the perspective of marginalized characters. I’m very fortunate that my contract with Orbit is a two-book deal with the second novel being another historical retelling!

I’m not supposed to say more about it yet except that it’s not a sequel to GOTHEL, but instead explores another well-known story from a maligned woman’s perspective. Similar to GOTHEL, it will delve into the history of witchcraft and folk magic beliefs. I’m excited to say more once it is announced officially! (less)
