There are many fictional couples I don't like, and I'm certain that I'm overlooking many quality relationships.

For now, I choose Lyra and Will from His Dark Materials because their childhood romance is so well developed, because their relationship is so redemptive and so cosmically intertwined with the rest of the story, and because they are deeply flawed characters who learn love one another. Perhaps most because in spite of their deep flaws and selfishness they sacrifice themselves for one another and for the world.(less)

I have some coffee, remind myself that the quality of my writing is not dependent on how I feel, and start typing short, declarative sentences.
For nonfiction, I may find a block quote or a pre-exisiting piece of writing and beginning responding to it.

For fiction, where I experience writer's block more often, I open up a favorite novel and start transcribing it in a different word document. This is a dangerous and probably unpopular practice, but the act of typing and involving myself in a narrative opens things up for me. It's best to choose an author with a plain style, so their voice doesn't overwhelm your own. When I was writing fiction regularly I would type 1000 words of someone else's novel and then 1000 of my own.

J.R.’s Recent Updates

J.R. Coltaine is 29% done with A Theology of Inclusivism: I am in the middle of an inclusivism/exclusivism study and this book was only $1 on Kindle. So far, very readable and enjoyable, though he is not tentative at all and his kind of Inclusivism may not be a live option for me. His view is very dependent on a Calvinistic/Barthian foundation.

I bought and read this book as part of a larger study on inclusivism and exclusivism (particularism), and my thoughts about it cannot help but be informed by comparing it to other works (many of which Piper cites).
