Whatever was frightening the shades away from their ancestral home, I knew that it wasn't anything I had done.(less)

Never rains but it … snows?

We are still a few days out from the official release of INCUBATE, but I have another story release to announce! My creepy vignette “Cool Ride” is one of many seasonal scares within the inaugural issue of WEIRD FICTION QUARTERLY!

Every chilling story in this Winter 2022 volume is themed to coincide with the darkest time of year, and each one is only 500 words long. Perfect for holiday snacking!

More of Dale's books…
George Washington
“Promote, then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.”
George Washington, George Washington's Farewell Address

Voltaire
“Let us cultivate our garden.”
Voltaire, Candide

Theodore Parker
“I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways; I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight, I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice.”
Theodore Parker, The present aspect of slavery in America and the immediate duty of the North: a speech delivered in the hall of the State house, before the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Convention, on Friday night, January 29, 1858

C.S. Lewis
“Since it is so likely that (children) will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.”
C.S. Lewis

Andy Weir
“If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes, people will line up to give blood. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it's found in every culture without exception. Yes, there are assholes who just don't care, but they're massively outnumbered by the people who do.”
Andy Weir, The Martian
