When a voice wakes you up in the middle of the night and tells you to write a fiction series, what’s a writer to do? That’s how I came to create Selkie Moon, after this nocturnal message. I sat down at the keyboard until Selkie Moon turned up -- a modern woman with a mythical name. Soon I was hooked, exploring far-flung places full of secrets where Selkie delves into psychological clues tangled up in the local folklore.

Before Selkie Moon invaded my life, I'd been a teacher, an unemployed ex-teacher, the author of over 50 children’s books, an audio-book producer, a workshop presenter and a prize-winning publisher. These days I live in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney with my husband, where I disappear each day into Selkie Moon’s latest myst

I have seen another reviewer I know actually hide her comment under a "spoiler" label that can then be clicked but who knows how to do that??

Interesting that you didn't regard it as a spoiler -- I guess as the author I'm especially sensitive. I've had other readers tell me that the creeping dread about what's going to happen has made the story a great read, so I guess knowing some of those elements in advance might "spoil" that part.

I'm happy with what you've done and good to have met you because of it :-)

Cheers

The Stalker's Guide to French Wine

In The Second Path, Book Two in the Selkie Moon mystery series, Selkie is confronted by a number of bizarre and cryptic clues which lead her across the world to France. As the story evolved, some of my experiences from several recent three-month stays in France added depth to the story. As my husband and I drove from Bordeaux airport, north through the Dordogne, to Tours in the Loire Valley we cont

Topics Mentioning This Author

“The characters in my novels are my own unrealized possibilities. That is why I am equally fond of them all and equally horrified by them. Each one has crossed a border that I myself have circumvented. It is that crossed border which attracts me most. For beyond that border begins the secret the novel asks about.”

Zadie Smith, White Teeth

“The important thing in writing is the capacity to astonish. Not shock—shock is a worn-out word—but astonish.”
Terry Southern
