My version of writer's block is a little different.. I have two walking, talking, literal pit-stops to getting pen to paper - my children!

So far, the issue is finding the time to write, not the inspiration. I am a copious list maker, and have an ideas file the size of several people's arms, so on the occasions when I do find a few moments, I can scribble a scene or two in between mopping paint off the floor and pancakes from the ceiling. I tend to plan out roadmaps of major plot points, then add quotes, inspirations, free-flow notes - and then I can piece everything together like a giant jigsaw. If one piece isn't fitting, I skip to another section.

Failing that, there's always pinterest. Lots of gems there to spark my fire.(less)

Getting to know these living, breathing characters which I have longed for in my personal reading - and then sharing them with people which I know must be looking for them too.

I write about subjects which are marginal, but becoming increasingly popular - if the prevalence of gentle parenting, home educating, veggie, coconut oil loving mamas (and papas) on social media and the bloggisphere are anything to go by.

Non-fiction (esp Mummy-blogging) in these areas is seeing explosive growth, but I was struggling to find fictional tales. Where are the heroes and heroines that my children will be able to identify with? If fiction is a mirror of society, there's a large demographic that we as authors need to cater for.

So I decided to have a shot at bringing these cloth-nappy brigade, baby-wearing, co-sleeping, home-educating, nature loving hippy people to bed with me at night... Wait - that didn't sound right ;-)

If I can inspire one family... If one mother or father gets confidence from what I have put of our life on a page, then that's got to be fabulous, yes?(less)
