Derek Easterbrook Slave of Destiny

I had finally completed my senior years
And I couldn’t even shed any crocodile tears
A fit and bright young lad as skinny as me
Never ever expected to have to go out to sea

The beautiful girl I met captured my heart
With long black hair, she was sexy and smart
An evil step father and his drugged-out son
Made it difficult for her to have any fun

She and her mother left in the middle of the night
They had to leave; run away and take flight
The girl with light brown skin and a sexy smile
I vowed to find her again; even if it took a while

An early storm began to form in mid-December
One this powerful I will always remember
The treasure chest I found that eventful day
Left me wondering if I was the one to pay

I appeared on a boat; a hundred years back in the past
A large schooner that was anything but fast
The beautiful girl was there working as a chamber maid
And my previous life was already starting to fade

I believed I loved her; we kissed and held hands
She failed to tell me she was from faraway lands
We stopped in a bay for relaxation and pleasure
Our life together we were beginning to treasure

A trip to a waterfall for a swim in the pools
Made us think we’ve been such a fools
I found out she was the Maharaja’s daughter
They left us trussed up; like lambs ready to slaughter

A fierce battle with a pirate; Named the White Ghost
Made me realize what I missed the most
My father, sister and mostly my mother
But I really missed my future wife and lover

I rescued her and kept the rogues at bay
They were too frightened to have any say
The White Ghost was feared by all and one
So we sailed away and into the setting sun

We lost our captain; barely escaping with our life
Only to be rescued and jailed; a place where disease was rife
Just as my wish was going to be fulfilled
I woke up to my mother’s urging and will

The next five years increased my desire
To find my girl; the one that I admire
From country to country I traced her down
My lovely girl with black hair and skin of brown

Derek Easterbrook The Harken Chronicles

I look up to the starry night sky
And I wonder if I could really try
To find life like women and men
On one heavenly planet or even ten

The polluted Earth was beginning to cry
As the poles melted and the land became dry
Humans had to stop burning fossil fuels
While they use technology, ideas and other tools

The space station allowed people time to think
Before the ice melted and the land began to sink
Scientists found worm tunnels and planets of blue
And this helped space ships travel to them too

A young man living in a faraway land
Worked and toiled with mind and hand
He met a beautiful woman one fine day
Who seduced him until he found he had no say

He married and returned to Earth with his wife
She brought her friend along to help enjoy life
They both became pregnant with twins and one
The three of them loved each other and had fun

A visit by a stranger made her remember her past
Her baby was full term and she would try and last
She became depressed after the baby arrived
The man could do little; he hoped she survived

She returned to her planet and to her mother
Her baby she left with her friend and lover
The wife fell in love with a younger man
And she vowed she would go back to the land

Divorce her husband and leave her baby here
Her friend will raise him without any fear
The twins and her baby will have no regrets
Her friend and lover she will forget

The man fought his wife’s new lover
A bitter battle like no other
At long last the two of them left them behind
A man an a woman with three babies is fine

Many months past, his life continued to be sad
But the mother of his children was never bad
He learned to love her with all his heart
She was a fiery red-head; loving, sexy and smart.

Derek Easterbrook Tropical Dreams & Murder

This is a tale of a woman and man,
Who set sail together from our verdant land,
All however, is not what it seems,
When the man falls asleep and begins to dream,

He becomes confused with what he sees,
For his life has changed, is what he believes,
As he fights to solve a dreamed-up crime,
He commits himself to do the time,

Day and night have no great pleasure,
And his old life he begins to treasure,
And then he decides to change his life,
When he takes the woman for his wedded wife,

In his dreams he thinks he dies,
He knows now that it is a pack of lies,
They set sail over the turbulent seas,
For a land where their lives will be carefree,

In this land they swim and play,
Until his wife is in the family way,
His dreams return when they reach the land,
For reasons he cannot understand,

The man and woman explore the West,
They stop at times where they think it’s best,
They meet her family along the way,
Simply because he has no say,

Their journey continues along the coast,
His wife much, much bigger than most,
When they see his mother, she shouts with joy,
Because she believes it will be a boy,

And finally, they sail for home,
The man and his wife will no longer roam,
Their life staid as in the past,
Because they know full-well it will not last,

The day finally comes with the birth of their boy,
With curly brown hair, their pride and joy,
As time goes by, he becomes a man,
And he leaves the Earth for a distant land
