I am in the trenches of my creative process and it is good. Much chocolate will be consumed. I may burn-up the speakers from playing my music loud enough to drown the voices in my head that are vying for attention. The laundry is piled up–I have to make choices or I won't have time for my creativity!(less)

For me, inspiration strikes when my mind is calm and quiet, and often when I am looking the other way (not directly for it). Commonly, it involves a multi-sensory experience. Sometimes, after a hike on a local trail, my mind empties enough for me to be quiet enough to hear it. When I tuck my kiddos into to bed, staring up at the lit-up fish tank in the dark, inspiration visits me. Then I have to stumble out and find a pen to catch it. We have to be ready for the sometimes-visitor of inspiration by making sure to capture it before it floats away and moves on. (less)

By Carrie Bloomston Edited by Abby Glassenberg My husband and I had a business for seventeen years. It wasn’t scalable or glamorous. It was just him and me in painter’s clothes working in houses. We painted murals, did faux-finishes, and glazed all of Scottsdale a warm Tuscan gold or medium taupe. It wasn’t fine art […]
