Leslie Tall Manning is an award-winning novelist who loves writing about grown-ups who crave change and often discover it in ways they never expected (GAGA, Self-e Library Selection recipient, and MAGGIE's DREAM). She also writes about teenagers who believe in independence, often stumbling into it headfirst (UPSIDE DOWN IN A LAURA INGALLS TOWN, Sarton Women's Literary Award recipient). As a private English tutor and writing specialist, Ms. Manning spends her evenings working with students of all ages, and her days working on her own writing projects. I pretend my characters have been holding their breath all night, and without me to help them breathe, they will die. So get your rear into the chair! Just remember to take breaks, sleep well, eat well, and stretch. Writing is only part of your life. Find the balance!(less)

“There are moments in time that can never be understood, at least not fully. Times we only read about in history books, or see in movies, barely a re-creation of the truth. But it takes more than reading about it or putting on the costumes to understand what history really means.”

“Children played guessing games, telling each other whether the gun fired was and AK-47, a G3, an RPG, or a machine gun.”
